And life went on..
Life went on for the two boys, their everyday rituals the same, as were their weekends. The two cherished their time together a bit more, as friends of course. The time they'd spend alone at Jackson's apartment was something they both savored immensely. The movies they'd watch together as they snuggled on the couch almost didn't matter, all that mattered to the two was that they were there, with each other.
Their friends had long noticed the connection between the two, and they didn't mind it really. But when asked, the two would tell them honestly that they weren't together, and they weren't. This confused their group of friends. They could see the desire between them by just the way they looked at each other, became concerned about each other, cared about each other, but they didn't know what the two boys did.
What the two boys knew, or what they thought they knew, was that they wouldn't be together, they couldn't. They'd never discussed it but it was like a silent agreement between them.
Jackson was clueless as to why Mark wouldn't be with him, truly clueless. It was like an unsolvable mystery to him. The kiss they'd shared felt like no other to him, Mark's lips gave him a feeling only one other person had ever given him, and she was long gone, and he had long hated that woman. But the fact that Mark gave him that feeling was special to him. It told him that he really cared about Mark, he really truly did. And the amount of need Mark returned the kiss with told Jackson that Mark cared about him too.
Mark was having an inner struggle with himself. He knew he cared about Jackson, but he wouldn't let himself be with him. His sensible side kept nagging at him, telling him Jackson would use him like every other girl he'd been with, telling him that he didn't really care. But than Jackson's words always repeated themselves in Mark's head.
'Because when I tell you I love you, it's true..'
Those were the words that argued against his sensible side. The fact that Jackson had told Mark so many times that he loved him.. And in a more sincere way then a friendly one. It was all crazy to Mark, he didn't understand it. He wasn't even a remotely special person, why would Jackson want him of all people? Why would he care about him? It made little to no sense to him. But he'd figure it out, at one point or another.
---
It was a lovely Saturday morning. The birds chirped happily outside Mark's window as his eyes slowly blinked open. He sat up, yawning and stretching his arms, reaching over to his phone. Upon unlocking it, he was greeted by a text from Jackson.
'Morning Markie, come over to my apartment when you wake up, I have an idea," -Jackie Poo 9:35am.
Why Jackson was up so early in the morning was the first question that crossed Mark's mind, the second being what on earth this idea of his was. Jackson could be quite the idiot at times, and Mark knew that, but he couldn't help but to be curious.
He got out of bed and got dressed in some jeans and a tanktop, a big comfy hoodie overtop. He laced up his sneakers, and left the house. Soon, after a short walk, he arrived at Jackson's apartment. The door was unlocked as it usually was, and the aroma of breakfast foods filled Mark's nose as he stepped in.
The red-head made his way towards the kitchen, poking his head in to see Jackson, making breakfast for two.
"What are you doing?" Mark said raising an eyebrow. Jackson was a bit startled to hear Mark behind him, but nevertheless a smile remained on his face
"Making breakfast," He replied, humming as he cooked.
"And how did you know I wouldn't have already eaten?" Mark said, brow still raised.
"Because you're always too lazy to eat breakfast," Jackson replied with a little hum as he served the American style breakfast onto two plates.
"And how did you know that I'd like this to eat?" Mark inquired, tilting his head a bit.
"You're from California, I guess you could call it a lucky guess," He said with a chuckle as he brought the plates to the table. "Let's eat~"
"Well thanks Jackson, that was really thoughtful of you," Mark said with a small smile as he sat beside Jackson at the table. It'd been a long while since he'd actually taken the time to sit down and eat breakfast, and it was just as delicious as he'd remembered.
"So what was that idea of yours?" Mark asked curiously, between bites of his food. Jackson looked up, a smile on his face.
"Mark, would you be mine?" He asked, grin unfaltering. Mark froze.
"J-jackson you know tha-" Mark began, but was cut off by the other's words.
"Not permanently Mark, just for today. Be mine just for today, I promise you won't regret it. Please?" He said, a hopeful look in his eyes.
Mark had to think about it a moment. It didn't sound all that bad, just to be his for a day, there'd be no harm in that. He nodded his head, a little unsurely.
"J-just for today," He said, looking down to his food, a shy smile on his face and a faint blush on his cheeks.
Jackson had thought all night about his plan. If he could make Mark his even for just a short time, it'd give him the chance to show Mark that it'd be worth it to be with him, that he should take the chance. He knew now why Mark had been unsure about being with him, it made perfect sense, it all clicked in his head. He thought that Jackson would use him, but no, it would be different. Mark was different in Jackson's eyes, special. And Jackson was set on showing him that.
