Hold on

Steve's POV
It's been a week since Mia started breathing on her own but I told Nat to go get some rest she was exhausted so she's asleep in the car. I sit next to Mia holding her hand and rubbing her head her organs are working on there own too she's coming along great. I kiss her forehead nobody saw though because they all went to get some rest or food.

I squeeze her hand a little and I feel her index finger twitch or move or something. I jump up with the freight. "Mia" I whisper "Mia" I say again just a little louder. I watch as her eyeballs move a little under her eyelids. They slowly open very little. "Mia" I say once more. She gives me a small smile "s-st-Steve" she croaks really quietly.

"Shhh don't talk I'm here it's okay" I whisper to her. I don't know whether to call Natasha or not I want to leave her sleep but I know she'll kill me if I don't call her. I pick up the phone and dial her number. "She's awake come in quick I bet she wants to see you" I tell her.

Mias POV
I feel a hand squeeze mine I know who it is I can smell his scent. I try moving my hand but it just twitches and even at that just one finger. I try so so hard to wake up my eyeballs keep moving I hear him call my name two or three times. I open my eyes to see his handsome face right in front of me. I try to smile at him. "Steve" I tried saying didn't sound like that though my voice is so quiet and croaky.

I'm going to have to learn how to talk again because I clearly forgot and it's only been a few days. "One second some one has been dying to see you" he smiles from ear to ear as he walks out by the door and shuts it. He's on the phone already I just woke?

5 minutes later my aunt blasts through the room she looks like she just sprinted up. I try smiling even harder. She starts crying while kissing my head and rubbing my hair. "You did it" she sobs. "D-d-" hold your throat with your hand when you speak it makes it easier" she smiles with tears running down her red cheeks.

Nat places my hand on my throat and I put pressure on it. "Did w-what" I croak. "You came back. you made it. You didn't die on me" she sobs more now. I'm still smiling at her with my emerald green eyes still looking at her. "No I d-didn't" I sniffled.

"I love you kiddo, oh and don't scare me like that again five weeks living on my nerves" she sniffles. "Five weeks? I thought it was just a few days" I gasp. "No you nearly died 3 times actually 4 when they turned off the machine they said you could hear us" she says. "Yeah I could but only for a few days and then the rest was like one night a long ass dream I didn't even know it was really you and only two days ago I hear again proper" I explain.

"Well it doesn't matter now you're awake and you're okay" she smiles. "Oh and I love you too Nat" I tell her.

Awhile later Steve pops in. "Hi I'm glad your awake" he grins. "I'll give you two a minute" Nat gets up and heads out. "Yeah me too" I smile. "I missed you well we all missed you really" he hummed. "I missed you all too, I heard what you all were saying you know" I laugh. "I know" he looked down. "You wanna know what else I know" I say flirtatiously.

"The flirter is back I see" he joked. "She sure is but anyways I know what you said to me that day when you came in on your own" I gulped.

Steve's flashback POV:
2 weeks ago
Everyone finally goes home and I go into Mia by myself she's probably going to die anyway so I can either give her hope and tell her all cute things or keep them to myself it can go two ways she'll wake and remember or die with happy thoughts. "Hey Mia" I sound like an idiot but who cares she can still hear whether she can answer or not. "I know you can hear me so I just wanted to tell you everyone misses you especially me and the girls and we'll throw a party when you get home. I doubt anyone is even going to let you out of our sight ever again. I don't even know if you just flirt with me because you're a tease or just a flirt and do it for fun or you actually like me but I think starting to fall for you nobody knows so don't let it slip okay and don't die so I can ask you on a date I kind of hope you won't remember any of this because that party was a surprise and I really needed to get this off my chest" I just poured my entire heart out to a girl that's as good as dead which breaks my heart because she still has her whole life ahead of her.

Today
Mias POV
"What is it do you remember exactly" he questioned. "How you have feelings for me and if I have them too, how you want to take me on a date, how nobody is going to leave me out again, how you hoped I don't remember and how I have a surprise party" I replied. He stared at me in shock and extremely pale with his gorgeous blue eyes with a hint of green.

"And yes I flirt with you because I've feelings for you too and yes I will go on a date with you now kiss me before everyone arrives" I add in. He leans in with his left hand holding the bar on the opposite side of the bed for support and his right hand leaning on my pillow right above my head, he kisses me slow yet softly.

I missed it.

I missed him.
