PoV: Blue

He left… I sighed as I sat up. The sun was shining through my curtains, waking me. Shadow left hours ago when I gave Sonic his meds.

"I got to check on him," I slipped my shoes back on and walked into the guest room. Sonic was still sound asleep. I checked his temperature while he rested, "No fever. That's good. The wounds haven't gotten infected."

I left him to rest and called Tails. No answer, it went straight to voice mail.

"This is Tails! If it's an emergency, call my buddy Sonic! Bye!"

"I thought I told him to change that…" I hung up and looked at the time. It was too early for him to be awake, "I hope he didn't stay up all night again."

I started a bit of coffee and read a book while I waited for it to brew.

“I have the feeling I won’t be feeling well for a while..” Sonic had woken up.

"Good morning," I helped him to the couch and had him sit down, "How is your back feeling?" I got up and set out a pan with butter to start warming up.

"It doesn’t hurt unless it’s in contact with something.” Sonic answered. “And I never knew that the skin under our quills was sensitive. Explains why we have quills.”

"It is really sensitive, I found that out the hard way too," I started cooking a small portion for him, "I'll give you your medicine with breakfast."

"More medicine..” Sonic groaned. “I hate it.”

"It's the only thing keeping your pain manageable," I grabbed an egg and cracked it into the pan.

"I know. But that still doesn’t make me like it.”

"No one likes medicine unless they're addicted," I served his plate and my own. A scene with lightly seared beef, egg, and spinach gravy. All good for a red blood cell count.

“I think I will wait a little with eating.” Sonic said. “My stomach is upset at the moment. Just give me a few minutes.”

"Here," I placed an alka-seltzer in his water glass. Once it was dissolved I handed it to him, "This will help."

“Thanks.” Sonic took it and drank the whole thing. “You seem to know what helps.”

"I've been sick and hurt before. It's natural I know what helps with what. Besides, it's better to know in case someone gets hurt during a battle. As much as we avoid others getting hurt, it's inevitable to happen here and there," I started to eat as we spoke.

"I’m pretty much useless when it comes to treating others. Tails is the one who patches me up all the time. I’m not really picking anything up from him. If I can still stand, I reject getting help. So I usually wake up all patched up after I passed out.” Sonic placed the glass down. “And we take people to the hospital where we know they will be treated well, better than we can.”

"You should still learn. If you're alone in battle and get hurt you need emergency treatment. And treating people before taking them to the hospital can give them a higher chance of survival. You don't know what will happen in the future. I just find it better to be prepared," I picked up my empty plate and washed it before setting it to dry.

“I can make a brace with what I find around. Same goes for bandages. But with medicine I’m no good. I know there are plants that could help, but it’s not like I recognize those.” Sonic began eating, finally.

"What do you do if you're impaled by something?" I decided to test him a bit.

"It’s best to leave it in if it’s a big object because it will case a lot of blood loss if you pull it out.”
