Madison laughed at her attempt to shape her muffin. "I don't think I am doing this right Maman." Her hands were sticky with the muffin mixture as she looked at the finished product in the tins next to her.

Jeanette smiled. "It takes a bit of work, mon amour. Just don't put so much pressure and make sure your hands are dry."

Madison nodded and then saw that some of the oats and banana had fallen over the side of the counter. She followed the spill down the side to the floor where Ghost was lapping it up. "Tastes delicious, doesn't it, boy," Madison said, looking at the dog. Ghost yapped and continued with his new found meal.

Jeanette pushed Ghost from the mess with her foot. "Arrête, Ghost. You are going to get honey all over your fur," the dog's grandmother warned. She picked up the Jack Russell Terrier to take him to the sink. "Tu mets tout dans ta bouche, comme ton père," she mumbled. Madison giggled. She didn't know exactly what Jeanette said but she could guess by the fact said Ghost was like his father.

"Hey, whatcha doin'," Charlie asked, coming around the corner. She looked up at him to see his hair sticking up all over the place and he was sans shirt. He was staring at her sleepily. His eyes were a light blue at the moment.

"Hey, cariño. We're making some breakfast muffins. Some are already done if you want one." She smiled up at him with her hair tied up in a tiny bun. "What?"

Charlie gave her a lazy smile and leaned down to kiss her cheek. "Nothing. Morning."

"Your boy is just hazard prone as you. His mouth is all sticky from the honey we used to bind the mixture," Jeanette said from the sink, bringing the dog parents' eyes over to the half wet dog. He looked perfectly miserable as his grandmother washed him.

"Sorry boy. Grand-mère is right. You need to get that stuff off."

Ghost looked at his parents forlornly and grumbled. "Look at his cute face, Char," Madison gushed.

--

"Ready to ride," Charlie asked as he started the Subaru. Madison smirked at him as she held onto Ghost.

"I'm always ready with you." Charlie smirked back and drove the car out of the garage. The two of them had taken to riding around in the mornings. Madison loved to take in the fresh morning air and Charlie let the windows down allowing their hair to fly around. It was freeing.

As they drove, Charlie put a playlist on from his phone. Little Big Town's "Girl Crush" started blaring through the speakers. Madison shook her head. "Of course. You are obsessed with this song."
