Army of Two

AN: Long time, no chapter. Sorry for the long time since the last update. I have a full time job and  I don't have as much time to write. I also had a bit of writer's block on the last part of this chapter. I hope you enjoy the fluffiness. Listen to "Army of Two" from the anime, Carole and Tuesday. It is beautiful. Enjoy!

"Mother, mother, mother/Won't you free me from my chains," Charlie sang underneath his breath as he started tuning his Taylor to practice. He had been singing the final song from the Netflix anime Carole and Tuesday since he and Madison finished watching the show the other day. Madison had decided to get Charlie to tip his toes into anime and had chosen the music focused space age anime as one of the starters.

Madison looked up from writing lyrics to look at Charlie. He was just in his own world as he often was when it came to music. "Maybe we should do a cover for Tik Tok?"

Charlie looked up from messing with the pegs. "Yeah? Of what though? There are so many songs to think of. Do you want it to be something popular on there?"

Madison shook her head as she closed her songwriting book and put it to the side. "No. Something different."

Charlie nibbled on his lip as he thought it over. "Well do we want it to be fun and goofy? Serious and somber? And what genre?"

Madison sighed as she rubbed Ghost's head. The dog was asleep on the bed and was a source of comfort as Madison struggled to rack her brain to figure out something. "I don't know. Give me a second."

Charlie shrugged and continued to tune his guitar. "Whenever you think of something. Mother, mother, mother/Won't you show me the way?"

Madison snapped her fingers. "That's it!"

Charlie arched his brow at her. "What, "Mother"? Uh Mads, that requires too many voices that we don't have. And to try to layer our voices for that is kind of hard to do without professional equipment."

Madison shook her head and waved her hands. "No, no, no. Not "Mother". We'll pick a song from the show. There are plenty to choose from."

Charlie tilted his head in that puppy way he tended to do. "Huh? That is actually smart. Ooh, I'm excited now. What song do you think we should do?" He jumped onto the bed with his Taylor, startling Ghost. Ghost glared at his human father and yipped at him. "Sorry, Ghost." Charlie started fiddling with the strings of his guitar.

Madison grabbed her phone. "Let's see what vibe we are going for. You think we can add some other instruments if necessary?" The two excitedly started searching for the Carole and Tuesday song they wanted to cover.

Madison sat on the bed in Charlie's shirt from Booboo, cross legged, with a keyboard on her lap. Charlie sat next to her in the same way with his guitar in his usual sleeveless band tee. He was angled towards her so that they could look at each other better. Charlie started strumming the guitar. A few seconds later, Madison's fingers glided on the keyboard keys. Madison used a softer voice as she started the song off. "We've been around the sun/Carried each other to hell and back."

Charlie's eyes shimmered with one green and other more blue as he continued the lyrics. "Into our brand new dawn/Burning the bridge with the past." His voice was lighter as perfect contrast to Madison's.

Madison gave him a small smile as their voices harmonized together for the pre-chorus. "Cause this is the moment we've waited for/And this is the day we spread our wings and fly." They leaned closer together and looked in each other's eyes as they moved into the chorus. "Nothing can break this army of two/Ain't nothing gonna stop us/Baby, it's you, you, you and I." They had matching smiles and shining eyes. They had changed a lyric in the last line of the chorus to fit better for them.
