"So then you pinch the sides just like this" his grandma told me as we made a sweet potato pie

She sat it in the oven and sat at the table

"Come on baby I wanna talk to you" she waved me over

I went and sat next to her and she took my hands and held them

"Now I know you and my baba aren't together but I can tell you love him very much which is why you kept this ring" she said and I looked down at the ring on my left ring finger

"Let me tell you" she shifted but kept holding my hands

"Before me and earl got married, there was a rumor about him being gay" she told me

"Every girl would treat him bad and so would the boys but I couldnt ever be mean to him" she said

"We used to walk to and from school together everyday and we'd spend every second together on the weekends" she smiled

"Well after a while I developed a little crush on him but what could I do? He was gay atleast I thought he was" she shrugged

"One day he took me to our favorite skating rink and when we were in the food court area, he asked me to be his girlfriend"

"I was so excited and said yes but oh boy did they start harassing me" she chuckled

"They thought he was gay so they'd call me a sissy lover but I didnt care because I loved him so much" she let my hands go

"So my point is that if you love someone, you'll stick it through with them" she put up her finger

"For me, it was earls sweet smile that kept my faith in our relationship but for you it could be something as small as the way he walks" she shrugged

"Now i dont know what's going on in your relationship and really what I'm telling you could possibly mean nothing compared to what you all have going on" she cleared her throat

"All im saying is just try to see the good" she reached up and wiped a tear i didnt even realize fell

"You know the last girl he brung around was a year after he went back with his mom and they broke up in this house" she nodded

"If you wasnt for him, you wouldn't have survived this long" she finished

"That was a beautiful story mrs. Fields and I truly love him I just get mad at his behavior" I sighed

"Please baby call me grandma" she smiled

"Oh my apologies grandma" I put my head down

"That's alright baby" she held her warm smile

"Now I want you to go find baba and talk with him to figure out if you all are going to continue your relationship or end it because you have to have it stable before the baby comes" she said and I kinda frowned

"I see...you don't believe me when I say you're pregnant huh?" She asked and sat back

"Im sorry grandma it's just that" I started

"You haven't had any symptoms" she nodded

"I know baby and it's alright but you dont have to take my word for it you can go to the doctor and see just to confirm" she nodded

"And you might think I'm some crazy old lady that uses crystal balls to tell future's and stuff but I simply listen to what the lord tells me and he told me that you'll have a beautiful baby- oops Im sorry I almost said too much" she covered her mouth laughing lightly
