YEAR AND A HALF LATER

"Emma, don't forget the ultrasound, it's in half an hour" said Rose, my assistant, as she entered the office.

"Thanks Rose, I really don't know what I would do without you" I said looking at my watch before grabbing my purse to go out. "See you tomorrow, I'm on my cell phone just in case"

The gynecologist's office was 25 minutes away and I didn't want to be late, today we were finally going to find out the sex of the baby and I couldn't be more excited. I thanked heaven that I could find parking soon.

"Hi Emma, are you excited?" the receptionist asked me as I approached.

"Too much!" I said with a huge smile, she gave me another smile just as big.

"Come in, they are waiting for you" I thanked her and entered the office.

"Yay!" Ana yelled, spreading her arms for me to come over and give her a hug. "Now we can start" Ana was lying on the table, Andrew was standing next to her stroking her hair, I went over and hugged them both before the doctor put the gelatinous liquid on my best friend's tummy.

"Oh God! Are those little feet?" Andrew said excited like a child on Christmas, the doctor and Ana nodded at the same time.

"Ok, ready?" The doctor asked, making sure that the future parents were ready to know if they will have a boy or a girl. I opened my eyes and sighed quietly, that question was going to bring with it many hesitations. They had spent 2 months contemplating whether to know or not, one day they agreed that they wanted to know so they could prepare the room accordingly, buy clothes and choose the name, but at the same time they didn't want to know, because they wanted to experience the surprise of finding out on the day of the delivery. I was there when they vigorously and emphatically said that they didn't want to know, that the room was going to be decorated with pastel colors and that the color of the clothes has nothing to do with the gender, I agreed with them. But I was also there when they decided that they definitely wanted to know, because they wanted their baby to feel identified with their name from now on and to be able to refer to him or her with a male or female article, there I was even more in agreement, because I really wanted to know. I was dying to know if I was going to have a niece or a nephew.

When they didn't answer with a yes immediately, I was afraid that this wasn't going to be the day either, I sighed and then almost without thinking the words left my mouth.

"Yes, they are sure!" I said in a higher tone than I should, the doctor looked at me and giggled as did Ana and Andrew.

"Well, she's the godmother, so you have to listen to her ... Yes, doctor, we are ready ... ready?" Ana said asking the last question to Andrew, he kissed her and nodded excitedly. The doctor first began to check the heartbeat, measure, and scan my friend's belly.

"Mmmhm" she said moving her head to the side looking at the monitor, we all froze.

"What happened?" Ana said with great concern.

"Nothing dear, everything is perfect, but ... Today this beautiful baby doesn't want to be seen, we can only see their buttocks" I started laughing like crazy, so much that tears came from my eyes, everyone looked at me without understanding before start laughing too.
