On Saturday I woke up at 10 in the morning, Jordan had not come to sleep last night, but today he was going to pick me up to go to the club where we were going to meet with our group of friends to celebrate Ana and Andrew's engagement. I was brushing my teeth when I heard someone knock on my door.

"Who is it?" I asked with my toothbrush in my mouth, as I walked to the door, combing my hair with my hands.

"Your best friend in the whole wide world" Ana shouted from the other side, I opened the door, looked at her, and smiled from ear to ear when I saw that she was holding a paper bag with the logo of my favorite breakfast' place. I reached out to hug her, but she stopped me before I could get too close. "New blouse" she said, pointing to her blouse. "Mouth full of toothpaste" she pointed at my mouth.

I smirked and signaled that I was going to be right back. When I got back Ana was sitting at the dining room table, had taken out and served my breakfast, and was sipping from a cup of coffee.

"Where is your breakfast?" I asked her before drinking the first sip of coffee

"Em, c'mon, it's more than 10, I had breakfast 2 hours ago"

"Aww, well, thanks for breakfast. How is everything?"

"I wanted to ask YOU that" she said raising an eyebrow. "It is time to have that conversation" she said looking into my eyes while crossing his arms.

"Ok, do you want to shine a light in my eyes? Or how do you want to proceed?" I joked trying to lighten the mood.

"I'm glad you're in a good mood, I want you to tell me what's going on with Alex?" she looked worried.

"Nothing, Ana, really. Alex is just... captivating, you know? she is so interesting and super-hot, and when I first met her there was a spark there, but it was a bit platonic and it's over. I'm stable with Jordan" I said as I finished my breakfast.

"Stables are for horses, I want you to be happy" I couldn't help but laugh at her pun. "Although, you are not even gay" she the latter matter-of-factly.

"Hey!" I said as I stood up from my chair to clear the table. "You know very well that I have always believed that one falls in love with the person and not with the gender, obviously the exterior attracts, but in the end what counts for me is how the other person makes you feel, if you feel like the most special being in front of their eyes, or the moments that you share with that person that takes your breath away, or feeling electric currents through your body just because they touched you, or wanting to wake up the next day just because you know you are going to see her, or when they look into your eyes and the rest of the world simply cease to matter, and this, my dear Ana, has nothing to do with gender" Ana looked at me with her mouth open and without blinking an eye.

"Wow, who are you and what have you done with Emma?" She said without being able to believe that I had said all that, the truth nor I believed it myself. "Can you say something like that in your speech at the wedding?" she said as she came to hug me. She pulled away a little and said "him, you meant him, right?"

"Mhm?" I asked confused.

"You said: wanting to wake up the next day just because you know you are going to see HER" She wondered with her hands still on my shoulders looking into the eyes.

"Aich, didn't you understand anything of what I just said?! Him, her or they, that doesn't matter" I said as I sat on the living room sofa. "And yes, you better wear waterproof mascara on your wedding day" After that, we didn't bring up the subject again, we talked about other things, work, and the wedding for a while until Ana left.

Jordan was going to pick me up at 7 at night, I decided to take a shower at 5, then I had to dry my hair and flat-iron it because I wanted to wear it straight, then I looked for something to wear and decided on a maroon cocktail dress two fingers above the knee and black heels. I decided to put on makeup with gray and black eye shadow that gave my eyes a smoky effect, I curled my lashes and put on dark red lipstick, a little Coco Chanel and I was ready to go.
