NOCTURNE AND TARANTELLA

Jacob

MY FATHER, he was coming back. And if he hurt someone, someone that wasn't me, would be my fault. He was a trickster, a liar, and a pathetic father. More than 200 years ago, it was the day of halloween. The year every kid spends money on a perfect costume for the one night of the year. The scariest and fun day of the month.

It was the year 1844, I was 14, back when I had a normal rate heart beat, warm blood, and normal kid. I adored star man, and everything a kid loved. My friends and I planned to go trick-o-treating.

As I entered my father's room, to ask him if he could drive us, he seemed off. The room was blood shot cold, the windows were closed. He had sparkles all over his face, and he looked wrong.

-
"Dad?", I had asked

he tripped over his own shoe, falling on his knees.

"Dad, are you okay?"

He looked me in the eyes, with thirst and anger, filled with pain and madness.

He carried me on his shoulder, making me kick him.

"dad let me go"

He opened the car door, shoving me inside and closing the door with a harsh bang. He got in the driver seat, turning on the engine and roaring down the street.

The streets looked unfamiliar, dark, and sketchy. I banged on the windows and tried to open the door, but they would not move. As we were in the middle of nowhere, I begged for my father to let me go.

He screeched into a random area filled with trees and large bushes. He dragged me out the car, falling on my back. My head hitting a rock.

He got on top of me, feeling his nasty hot breath on my neck.

"you chose. Your mother, or yourself"

"what?"

I was fully confused on what he was talking about. But was frozen in shock and fear. Everything happened too quickly, for me to understand.

He reached my neck, snapping his teeth on my throat. Without a warning, his fangs drenched into my flesh. As he bit the other half of my neck. I screamed, feeling as if everything was fake. If it were a dream, a movie, an act.

Then, my screams went silent. My breaths were slowing down, my heart beat was the only thing I felt pumping.

My dad stood up from crouching. Wiping the tears off of his eyes.

I was a kid. I didn't deserve this. My body laid lifeless on the bare ground.

And my dad, he waited to get a small sign of life from me. But nothing happened.

My world shallowed, in the ground.

My dad took his car, and drove it back home, leaving me, alone drenched in rain.

-
I awoke in a bright light, feeling sunburned. I walked home to find police cars surrounded by my home. Seeing my mother cry on the balcony, hurt me. I felt different.

She ran to me, hugging me tightly. Telling me that she though I'd been dead. And it worries to me, that I am.

Hugging me tightly, whispering that I will always be safe with her. And I believed her. Till this day, I've never spoken about my occurrence.

I looked in the mirror and all my bites and scars were sewed. As if they were old. I only felt an itch on my neck. Soft tears left my eyes, caressing my scars.

My mother came into the room, without a knock. Dropping my fingers off my neck.

Her teary eyes began to look angry.

"That sick bastard", she whispered

She knew, this whole time she knew. She put me through danger, knew he was cruel, knew my father was a monster. And now,

I'm dead
