Sweat dripped down beth's forehead as she walked down the empty road, a few walkers slowly trail behind her but she was so dehydraited and malnurished that her body was too weak to fight, so she kept her distance. She only faught when she had to. At this point, she wasn't sure she'd make it to maggie alive, but like always she had faith. It 'aint done shit for us' as daryl would say....daryl..........daryl She thought to herself. She wasn't gonna lie, she missed him like crazy. The bond the two shared was stronger then any bond she'd had with anyone outside of her family.
''Stop.'' Beth's heart skipped a beat as she heard the strangers voice. ''what do you want?.'' She asked, turning around. The walkers on her tail laid there headless and this girl with dirty dark broen hair and forest green eyes stands before her pointing a gun at her temple. ''Whats your name?.'' She asked beth, slightly cocking her head to the side. ''Beth. and you are?.'' The girl was slight taken aback when she heard the amount of confidence in her voice. She slowly lowered her gun and side smiled. ''Romona Piper.'' Beth eyed the girl as she stepped closer to her. ''Is it just you out here by yourself?.'' She asked, sounding super impressed. ''Yeah.'' Romona walked a full circle around beth, looking her up and down with a smirk plastered on her lips. ''What happened to your group kid?.''
''Don't call me that,'' Beth snapped lunging towards her a bit but Romona held out her knife. ''Now now, settle down.'' Beth huffed before kicking the dirt on the ground. ''We got seporated, now im trying to find them.'' Romona let out a bitter laugh and lowered her knife. ''Hun, the chances of them bein' alive are very slim, look around. Shit ain't like it used to be, now is it?.'' Beth's gut twisted internally as she thought about her words. ''Tell ya what,'' Romona said stepping closer to beth, their noses almost touching. ''Forget about your old group and come with me. You'v got courage goin' out here all alone, i like it.'' Beth thought about it for a moment, it had been weeks since she had last seen Daryl. Hell, it had been longer since the last time she saw Maggie or Rick, Carl, Michonne... what if they really were dead? She didn't want to have to find them - she didn't wanna have to kill her friends. Beth sighed. ''Fine.'' Romona smiled, showcaseing her dimples and perfectly straight teeth. ''Thatta girl.'' She began walking in the direction beth had been before stopping and turning around. ''You comin'?.'' She yelled back and beth dragged her feet behind her.
She didn't want to stop looking for them, but maybe Romona was right. Maybe they were dead and maybe beth could end up gettin' herself killed over people who were long gone. Was it worth it?. ''Where are we headed?.'' Beth asked. ''I know a place, I've been seein' these signs everywhere sayin' 'Alexandria'. Its some kind of santuary and I think it'll do for now, no?.'' Beths stomach twisted as she thought about the 'santuary' the group had last been to. ''How do ya know it's safe and not a trap?.'' Beth asked and Romona laughed. ''Listen here bethy, in this world you do whatcha gotta do to survive. If it's a trap, you and me are like weapons. We could take out the few poor bastards in a heart beat, ya hear?.'' Beth nodded. She was against slaughtering people, but she didn't feel safe around Romona yet. One wrong move and beth could be six feet under. Beth wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand and sighed. Romona notices beth's condition and stops. ''Hold it,'' She says as she pulls out a water bottle from her bag and tosses it to beth, who doesn't make the effort to catch it. The water bottle landing before her feet as she raised her eyebrow at Romona.
''Relax dollface, its a new bottle. Found a store with a pack of ten.'' Beth sighed before picking up the bottle and continuing down the road, gulping every last bit of that bottle. ''Thank you..'' She said in a small voice and she grunted in responce. The walk had been spent in pure silence, minus the moans of the dead in the distance. Beth closed her eyes and smiled for a moment. It was finally peaceful. ''Tell me 'bout yourself britney? bridget? -''
''Beth..''
''Right, Beth. Tell me 'bout yourself.'' Romona said and beth opened her eyes to look at her. ''What do ya wanna know?.'' Romona smirked. ''Anythin'.'' Beth scratched the back of her neck and gathered her words for a moment. ''Well, I got seporated from my group-''
''No no, I don't care about that,'' Romona said. Before Beth could open her mouth, she spoke again. ''I wanna know how your life was before shit hit the fan.. Like how old are you, siblin's, hobbies, that kinda stuff. '' Beth was taken aback by her sudden kindness. ''Oh, well uhm, I grew up on a farm in Georgia with my mom, dad , sister and brother.'' Romona nodded and encouraged her to continue. ''I used to sing - Actually, I still sing. Oh and I'm 19.'' Romona smiled. ''Ahh, very nice, very nice. Well I'll tell you a little about myself, i'm 23 years old, I was raised by my dad - so you could imagine me goin' huntin' with him an stuff,'' Beth nodded and showed interest in her story. I mean, she might as well have since she would be with her now, right?. ''Thats why i survived this long - my daddy taught me all I needed to know to survive when shit first went down.'' Beth nodded. When she heard the word 'daddy' it made her heart ache. ''Is he.....'' Beth asked locking eyes with romona and she sighed and bowed her head. ''Yeah, skin eaters got him before I could.''
''Skin eaters?.'' Beth asked slightly raising an eyebrow. ''I call em' walkers.'' Romona smiled slightly, opening her mouth to speak before she set eyes on the giant herd ahead of them. ''Shit!.'' She whispered, yanking beth's wrist into the direction of an empty car. She opened the trunk and pushed beth inside before climbing in herself and tying it down with a seatbelt. ''Theres hundreds out there, we gotta be very quiet.'' Beth nodded and kept her eye on the very small opening and watched shadows walk past the car, ocasionally bumping into it making her pretty uneasy. ''Chill out bethy.'' Romona said, holding her knife at eyelevel.
-
Sweat dripped down beth's forehead as she watched the last of the herd pass the car. After the moans had completely gone away, she untied the knot and climbed out of the car. What looked like thousands of walker footprints made a trail past the car and down the road - beth couldn't believe it. ''Good call.'' She said, her eyes still firmly placed on the footprints and Romona smirked. ''C'mon.''
