Risotto Nero was not a family man. Or at least, he never expected to be. He didn't think he'd make a good boyfriend, or a good fiancé, or a good husband- he definitely didn't think he would be a good father.
But when you flashed him the pink test strip with two lines, in a white wedding dress with a smile on your face and tears in your vision, all of the silver-haired mans doubts washed away.
Today was your wedding day. One of the happiest days of your life, and it had just become extra special.
Risotto had had suspicions for a while, before you had even known yourself. From the way you turned your nose to the smell of meat, to the newfound headaches that would burden you during the day. Although it was more in a joke-manner, Risotto would always tell you to take a test, but you hadn't even missed your period yet...so you didn't see the point.
And then you had. You were three days late the morning of your wedding, which didn't necessarily mean you were pregnant...but it definitely urged you to take a test. So you had taken a test, and you were completely shocked to see that it was positive, resulting in your makeup being ruined from happy tears.
You contemplated telling Risotto before the ceremony, but figured it would make it more special if you told him after...so you went the whole day avoiding wine and biting your tongue, as to not ruin the surprise to your now-husband.
You were nervous. You had previous conversations about having children and he had discussed his doubts in himself. Although he'd never say it outright, you knew Risotto would beat around the topic of children because he simply didn't think he would be good enough. Your hands shook as you approached him at the now empty-venue, as all of your guests had piled out for the night. The next step was to go home and get some sleep, then you'd leave for your honeymoon the text morning- a nice little road trip, where you could go anywhere you wanted.
But as the anticipation had built up, you realized you couldn't wait anymore."Risotto...," When you were infront of him, you spoke, trying to keep your voice as clear as possible. "I have something to tell you."
He was completely dumbfounded, eyes furrowing as he imagined all of the things you could possibly tell him. Not one of them being that you were pregnant.
You clasped the test right, careful not to drop it to the floor as your hands shook, stretching out to reveal the two little lines that showed on the window.
"I'm pregnant."
His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.
Risotto Nero was going to be a father.

"Cecilly, please be careful, piccolo."
The beautiful little girl hummed in response, barely paying attention to her adoring father as he watched over her like a hawk. She was playing in a small playhouse she had received for her most recent birthday, the small toddler pretending to bake imaginary pies. Her hair bounced around playfully, the same color as yours, and her red eyes twinkled with such delight fullness and innocence. Her over the top, pink-tutu blew with the breeze and her little pink matching trainers had been coated with mud from playing.
"You know, bello," You grinned, sauntering up behind your husband with a smile on your face. "You don't have to watch her so carefully."
"But I do," His voice was soft and smooth, different than the Risotto you had met many years ago. "I'm her father, it's my job."
"And you are one of the best fathers I have ever met, my love," You whispered to him, kissing his cheek.
"Cecilly, dinner is ready! Your uncles will be here soon, are you excited to see them?." You called out to the little girl, who bobbed her head out of one of the windows in the playhouse, grinning from ear to ear.
She let out a squeal of happiness, excited to see all of her uncles who loved her to death and gave her the most attention any little girl could ask for. It didn't take her long to come running towards the back porch.
Risotto had a huge grin on his face, a grin that he had grown used to. Pulling his precious little girl into his arms, she clung to him like she would never ever let him go again.
You watched as Risotto carried little Cecilly into the kitchen, babbling to her the same baby talk that she spoke.
Risotto would put you and your child before anything, and it made it easier to sleep at night knowing one hundred percent, undoubtedly,
Risotto Nero was the best family man there ever was.
