You stared out of the large window longingly, twiddling locks of hair around your fingers as your lip pouted.
'When will he come back?' You thought. Your heart ached as you thought of the charming boy. Plump, colored grey and orange, a little dumb, but the way his tail curled when you called his name was adorable- Pharaoh, how you missed him dearly. He was infamous for somehow finding his way out of your family's mansion, but, usually he would return within a few good hours. He hadn't yet, and this worried you to the core.
A few of Pharaoh's shenanigans consisted of when he slipped out the back door, when the Maid was carrying the laundry out to the line; another being when he mysteriously somehow managed to get out to the roof and shimmy down the gutter-pipe, and when he hid in the garbage and managed to escape before the Butler threw it into the incinerator. But this time, you had opened your window to cool your room down and had accidentally fallen asleep with it open. When you awoke, your beloved Pharaoh was gone. You had no idea how long he'd been missing, where he had gone, or if he was okay- especially because he hadn't come home by the time he normally would.
You figured, now was the time to go looking for him. You were sure your parents wouldn't approve running around town empty-headed in search of a cat, so, you went through the back.
Your journey started out nicely as you walked the path connecting to the quaint town. The early-evening breeze graced your cheeks and knees, how ironic. If only it had been this nice out yesterday, none of this would've happened. Pharaoh would be napping on your bed, as we speak. But nevermind that, alas you had a mission; retrieve your missing cat.
Once you hit the conurbation you began to check the alleyways near establishments such as bakeries and poultry shops where he may have smelled food and hunkered up, but you found no Pharaoh. You began to check the dead-end streets where all the cats hung out, incase he decided he'd try to court a little lady, no Pharaoh. You questioned the prettiest girls where your son may have gone but, all they did was lick their paws and meow, being little to no help.
A wave of sorrow washed over you, much stronger than your anxiety from earlier. Had he really gone somewhere off? What if he had gotten into trouble? The reality of the situation nipped at your nose, but you kept moving.
The sunset beckoned over the horizon. You were now in the main district. You imagined he wouldn't be there, but still, you searched. As it grew near to dark, you began officially losing hope, and prepared to return home loose handed, without Pharaoh- but the familiar cries of your loved one soon filled your ears.
You walked- more like, dashed, in the direction of the meows only to find yourself outside of a barber shop, where a blue-headed young man sat, your beautiful kitty in his lap, while he was being hand-fed bits of a turkey sandwich.
"Pharaoh!." You cried, approaching the pair. The boy shot his head up.
"Oh! Is this your cat, miss?." He spoke, letting your cat snatch another small piece of bread from his fingertips. "Yes, yes he is! He went missing sometime earlier today, I'm so glad you have him!." You gently pet your loving fur-baby on his head, and he purred loudly like an engine in response.
The sapphire-haired boy smiled happily at this gesture. "I found him a few minutes ago! He was getting into a scrap with some other cats, and the poor boy was brutally outnumbered! I couldn't watch him get pummeled to bits like that," He elucidated. "He seemed awful hungry, too, and I had this little sandwich on me for a snack incase I got hungry but, it seems he needed it more than me."
"How kind," You sat down next to him, watching Pharaoh munch on the forementioned sandwich. "What a gentleman you are, helping my kitty."
"I'm no gentleman, just doing my duties."
The sky darkened, minute by minute.
"Well, Mister, I must be off; my parents don't know I went on this little...search party." You sighed. He nodded in acknowledgement. "Oh, here! Of course," He placed the fat cat into your lap. "Off you go, Miss! Have a nice night, and keep an eye on that cat. He sure is a sweet one, reminds me of a dog I had, Danny was his name- my bestfriend."
"You said 'had'? I'm sorry for your loss, Pharaoh is my bestfriend too-," You abruptly stopped yourself. "How rude of me! I must repay you for your kindness, I have some cash on me if that'll suffice? It's not much, but-."
"Dont be silly! I don't want money in return, I didn't really do much anyway."
"Really, its the least I can do!."
The boy pondered, and with this you fished in your dresses' pockets for the funds. "No, no, I didn't mean that," He laughed. "Actually, I was thinking; we could have lunch together tomorrow, rather than paying me with money?."
You sat there for a moment, a tad shocked. "Lunch with me? Pfttt, how will that pay you back for anything?."
"Excuse me for being upright, but, you are a very pretty lady." He blushed. You smiled and hid your face, while Pharaoh repositioned himself on your lap and rubbed his face against the boy's arm.
"I don't even know your name, mister."
"Ah, excuse me, I'm Jonathan! Jonathan Joestar." He poised his hand toward you, which you shook with charm. "I'm (Y/n) (L/n), and, I'd be honored to have lunch with you, Jonathan."
"S-So, it's a date?." He asked, almost self-assured, but a funny little lump hung in his throat, questioning.
You hoisted Pharoah in one hand as you stood, and brushed off the skirt of your dress with another. "It's a date, meet me here again, tomorrow, twelve sharp."
And with that, you made your way through the town and up the dwindly little road toward your home, Pharoah in arm, and a boy on your mind.
