Summary: Violet and Clementine open up to each-other.
Words: 1334

As Violet stood above the grave of her, rather insane, ex-girlfriend, she contemplated their relationship in the first place. It had been incredibly out of the blue and something they did just because they were the only gay girls there. Although it was out of the blue, they still fell hard for each-other at the age of 14. Rather quickly, 2 years had past in their relationship. They had done everything couples do really fast, considering they didn't even need to worry about protection in the case of pregnancy.

She'd say that's what ruined them. Before...Marlon...they'd been arguing a lot. They had been so focused on the other things that you could do in a relationship that they barely got time to actually get to know one another in a closer way then they did before, friend-ship wise. In their relationship, Minerva showed more then when they were just friends. Minerva was more stubborn or easily agitated. Minerva also had trauma, along with Sophie and Tenn that they never opened up about.

Violet found out the hard way that Minerva had depression. Something in her past made her have depression and she took daily medicine for it, secretly. Once they were empty, Minerva fell into a deep depression episode, not even wanting to look at her girlfriend.

Violet and depression didn't mix well. Violet herself had some sort of depression, on the scale that was never diagnosed. She hated thinking about back then when the shrinks would argue over her diagnosis.

Violet also despised even looking at depression. Something she saw as weak. Her grandmother proved so, after she shot herself.

This caused an obvious divide in the two. There was also some things Violet had said and done that she regrets. Now, all Violet can do is make sure she doesn't do the same to Clementine.

Violet made sure to take this slow. So slow that she was going to wait until after everything to make the slightest move on Clementine. Although, her plan was altered due to Clementine surprisingly making the first move. Violet didn't mind, she was over the moon. But she still remembered to get to know her before anything different then kissing.

God she hoped Clementine didn't have any lingering diagnosis or disorder. She wasn't good with those but she could try, for her at-least.

"Hey." Clementine came up behind the girl, Violet jumped slightly. "Sorry, what are you doing?" Violet turned around to face Clementine, slightly red in the face hoping Clementine didn't think she was thinking of Minerva. "I was just, uh" Violet thought quick, "Visiting Sophie's grave." Violet felt slightly guilty for her lie, but Sophie and her weren't the greatest of friends so the guilt was small. Clementine nodded. "How's your stump?" Violet asked, she rubbed her arm looking down to the missing leg. She felt sad for Clementine, watching her limb hang.

Clementine shrugged. "It's fine but how are you? You have been pretty out of it sense...you know the battle." Violet twisted her mouth, she walked out of the burial area, leading Clementine to the music room.

They walked inside, and sat on the couch. "Why'd you bring me here?" Clementine asked, looking to Violet as she twiddled with her thumbs on her lap. "Cause, I wanted to- I wanted..." Violet breathed in deep, now turning her body to face Clementine. "I'm sorry, I know how awkward I make these things but I wanted to share my feelings with you." Violet looked away, tears slowly coming up. Clementine grabbed her hands gently, rubbing circles on top of her hands. "I'm glad you do." She said, Violet slowly looked back to her. "I come in here to think, a lot."

Violet gripped Clementines hands, "Louis would play something and I would sit here, his annoying ass wouldn't even talk- he really knew how to read a room. He gave me space, letting me think." Clementine gave Violet a sad look as she choked on her next words, obviously hurt by it. "Now he doesn't come here often. He doesn't even play piano Clem, I can't stand watching him like that. He was the only one who really made me happy and now that light is gone- no matter how hard he tries to smile I still see that's it's fake." Clementine let her rant, giving Violet her full attention.

"Tenn is gone. That pure boy is gone now, I watched him die Clem. I watched Minerva die, I watched my childhood friends and first love be slaughtered. There was so many things I wanted to apologize for. So many things I wanted to say to her, so many things I needed her to know before she went. Along with..Brody. God I was such an ass to her."

Violet widened her eyes, she let go of Clementines hands and turned forward now. "Violet it's ok to have feelings you know?"

Violet knew that. Hell, she lectured Louis on that, telling him to stop hiding behind his smile all the time. It wasn't the emotions of sadness or guilt that tugged at her, it was the inevitable doom of her falling for Clementine. The way Clementine cared for her, the way her pupils dilated in her full hazel eyes made Violets heart swell. Clementine was more defenseless now with no leg, if something were to happen Clementine wouldn't get far. Violet knew getting attached was horrible, especially in the apocalypse. After Minerva left, although Minerva proved to be crazy and certainly deserved death after what she'd done, it still hurt like a bitch.

Clementine got up, now facing Violet. She grabbed her chin, now turning Violets head upwards forcing her to take in Clementines beauty. Violet gulped. "You hear me?" Violet nodded, taking in Clementines lips as she kissed her.

——

"Clementine?" Violet opened the door to a sleepy Clementine. "Hey." She yawned. Clementine made her way in, scouting Violets room. "Bland, hey you need some skulls in here." Violet tilted her head at the comment. "Never-mind." Clementine said, walking her crutches over to Violets bed. Violet showed a slight blush, checking her nails. They were long, shit.

"Jesus Vi, I'm not here for that." Clementine said, noticing her action. Violet widened her eyes, so used to the late nights Minerva would come by. "Oh shit I'm sorry!" Violet put her hands up in defense. "It's fine." Clementine chuckled, patting the spot next to her. Violet nodded, sitting next to her.

"I had a nightmare." Clementine sighed, lying back onto the bed. Violet following. "So you came here?" Violet asked. Clementine looked over to her, adjusting her body so now she was lying on her side, body facing Violet. "You opened up to me. I want to return the favor."

"It was about this strange man from when the apocalypse first started." Violet gave Clementine her full attention now, searching her eyes, seeing that there was fear in them. "He took me away from my buddy Lee. The only guy who treated me like a parent in the apocalypse. I was stuck there for a while, he talked about starting a new family and shit." Violet sighed. "Thank god it was just a nightmare." Clementine snickered. "No that actually happened." Violet widened her eyes. "Just in my nightmare, Lee never came to rescue me." Clementines face fell, Violet empathized with her. Clementine yawned, "It was hard living through that again, and I thought being around you would make me feel better." Violet got up as Clementine did, "Did it work?" Clementine smiled, kissing Violet slowly. She let go, face inches apart with deep eye contact. "Ofcourse it did."

Violet smiled, slowly laying Clementine down on the bed Vertically. Violet lay next to her, eyes searching each-other. "Let's get some sleep." Clementine offered, now cuddling into the Violets chest. Violet smiled, hugging the girl under her. "Goodnight."
