For Suicide Prevention Month: Mental health is something we don't talk enough about, and it is unfortunately frowned down upon alot. This can lead to some pretty bad thoughts of hopelessness. This one-shot shows the struggles of someone with mental illness, and how sometimes, your own loved ones just can't understand, but, at least they can make an effort to. This month is pretty close to my heart, and I wanted to write something about it, especially since recently my mental health has been horrible.

Special thanks to my medication for inspiration! Lol.

Summary: Clementine slept in Louis' room because she had a bad nightmare, she woke up because the warmth beside her in the cold night was gone, only to find him somewhere else. When she finds him, they have an argument, and Clementine learns a valuable lesson about mental health. (TW: very small hints of suicidal issues, and unrecognized neglect)

Clementine wrapped herself tightly in the thick-wool blanket. As soon as she got into it, it's like her troubles disappeared from the nightmare she had just got. The blanket was warm, and her partner laying next to her was creating this extremely cozy setting. Her eyes fluttered, going into a deep sleep.

Louis layed there, feeling the cold bite at his cheeks. He gave the blanket to her, he let her take all of it. He told her a lie, that he absolutely loved the cold and that he didn't need the blanket. Anything to make her smile appear again. She came to his door not too long ago, her eyes puffy and she breathed jaggedly, she had told him of her nightmare. It broke his heart.

So, anything to see her smile again, and her smile was enough warmth for him in the cold night. But, his body seemed to differ, because it was now shivering. A few months had passed and now it was December, and in the mountain regions of Virginia, you better hope you have some nice, warm clothing. He sighed, watching his breath escape his chapped lips in the cold night. He grumbled, sitting up now. He rested his elbows on his knees, looking over at his girlfriend snuggled in the blanket. He smiled, watching the blanket move up and down with every breath she took. The colors on her cheeks were only slightly pink due to the cold.

Then it hit him, this overwhelming feeling he usually got in the late hours of the night. He furrowed his brows. "Not now." He muttered, but, his plea to his own mind was unheard and ignored, as he felt this feeling, a feeling that resembled a weighted blanket, that had all these lies in it, wrapped tight on his shoulders. It wasn't comforting, it was just a heavy burden on his shoulders that he couldn't get off. Ever since he was a kid, he had this feeling. The shrinks at Ericsons prescribed him with the medication: Mirtazapine. That medication only strengthened his feeling, but hey, at least it knocked him out in the night, so at least he could sleep it off. But, it would knock him out for 14 hours. And by the time he awoke, he wouldn't even be able to move around, because the feeling in his heavily medicated body wouldn't allow him to function correctly. Then he had to take this medication every night, it was a horrible experience.

Marlon was the only one who helped him move around, Marlon told off the shrinks, but no-one listens to kids. They laughed it off, and said Louis did it for attention. "It's fine." Louis would say, but Marlon was the only kid who saw through this, this antidepressant didn't work, it made him worse. The shrinks didn't care, they had a 100 other kids to worry about, besides, some rich kid could afford to just go somewhere else if he didn't like the service. But, not even his own parents listened, they just shrugged it off.

"He has a tendency to lie." His dad glared down at him while talking to the nurse, "I'm sure he's fine."

Louis looked over to his mom for help. She sat there, too focused on how she looked then her own son. She poofed her fluffy and curly hair, smiling in the mirror in her hand.
