Summary: Louis does something with Clementine that he'd always fantasized about when he was a kid.
Words: 2082It was a hard night. Louis just couldn't seem to get comfortable in his springy bed. A new found trauma had fell over the school, a trauma that hit hard on Louis' shoulders.
He now had a family to protect. No more screwing around, at least all the time. Before the Delta attack, he hadn't found a reason to survive, a reason to be miserable everyday. So whenever he could, he found someway to have fun. It annoyed the other kids a lot, that Louis was so giddy, so nonchalant about everything.
He cringed at the idea of him being serious, he also cringed at the fact that someone knew more about him then he wanted people to see. Clementine saw through his smile, his jokes, everything. That night in the music room tugged at his mind.
As Louis thought of that night, he tensed up, gripping his blanket and holding it tighter to his chest; It was a common coping mechanism he did when it came to unfolding his deeper thoughts.
No one had saw through his personality, no one thought to themselves, that this guy would be anyone important. Mixed in with the very little attention he got as a kid, along with the very little attention he got from the other kids, it made him extremely lonely.
So over the years, he developed a strong wall that blocked anyone from seeing his inner broken child. Insecure, fragile, and dehumanized. It was easier for everyone to roll their eyes at his jokes, rather then avoid him or give him pity if they knew his true self. The self that never got the help he needed.
Clementine that night tore down his wall quite fast. Surprisingly, of course. It was only around 2 weeks since the night with Marlon, a night he regretted deeply. Louis thought that's what pulled his attention to her most. She didn't back down from protecting herself, or AJ, her family. But she also knew when she did something wrong or hurt another person.
She was incredibly different and strong. She was open about her personality, when she said she'd do something, she'd set her mind to it. She was a warrior, but a princess aswell, beautiful and kind hearted. It made his heart swell the way she glanced at him at times, even if some were eyerolls, or glares.
They were getting closer now, he had heard some stories about her childhood, he seen some of her scars; that was something really personal she had showed him. They weren't just crushes anymore, they were more then just a thing. It was a full blown relationship. With trust, attraction, and love.
It excited him in so many ways, but also terrified him.
His mind was a war of insecure thoughts, scared thoughts and romantic thoughts about his girlfriend. He hated when he thought deeply.
As if the universe saw his struggle in the night, a subtle smell made his mind trail to something else. One of his favorite distractions. Louis sat up and took in the slight copper and earthy sent. "Rain." He whispered.
Louis slowly made his way to the side of the bed, the blanket falling off of his shoulders. He sat there, letting the cold droplets of the slightly heavy rain outside fall onto his bare legs, not minding the cold as he was captivated in the pretty atmosphere.
The blue room, mixed in with the rain made him remember happy memories with Marlon. Louis scrunched his nose, laughing quietly.
9 year old Marlon had pulled out a magazine in the moonlight. "What is that?" Louis asked. A small lamp had lit up Louis' face, it showing off the many freckles on his skin. Marlon had ran to Louis' side of the room, not thinking of Louis' decorations on his wall of famous musicians. "Hey watch it!" Louis shouted at Marlon who threw his back onto the wall, scrunching up the posters.
