Chapter 8. Dreaming in the Celestial World

Zeus decided to stay with Leto for a while, in her eyes, he was very interesting and there was something on his air and his ways that made him different, perhaps it was because he was a child of a star and that made her feel comfortable around him.

One day, they decided to camp near the pond, where they have their first encounter, it was night already, "You know, there is something that is burning me with curiosity", he said tilting his head as he fixed his gaze directly into her eyes.

"Go ahead", she answered inviting him to satisfy his curiosity.

"My mom looks really young, over the years I never saw her grow old unlike my dad, however you look even younger than her, and I was wondering, how old you really are?", he asked raising an eyebrow.

She blushed, she didn't know why, but she suddenly felt her cheeks very hot, "Well...", she cleared her throat, "I have known the Star of Wisdom since we were up there together", she said as she raised her hand and pointed to the starry sky, "So...", he laughed out loud interrupting her.

"¡Wait a minute! ¿Are..? ¿Are you calling me old?", she was clearly embarrased, and that made her look really cute.

The sound of a bell broke the pleasant moment they were living, they looked at each other in surprise, it was quite late now, Leto immediately got up wondering who it could be.

Since Leto's friends couldn't see the Oasis, he buried a wooden pole near the entrance of it and hung a bell on it, so that when they rang it, he would come out to meet them. So, Zeus and Leto were used to the sound of the bell, but this was the first time it rang this late.

He came out to approach them as usual, but they were carrying bad news. They informed Leto about the death of a good friend. He was outraged. Once they left, Zeus approached him, "¿What's up Leto? You look very pale". She said concerned about him.

Leto closed his fists as they ignited with dark fire, A good friend just passed away "¿Can you believe it?", he shook his head from on side to the other, "worst of all, aside of having to go through the pain of losing her, ¡Her family members must also deal with her husband being cursed with the Contradictory Curse!".

Zeus looked at him confused, "But, if he was cursed...", she paused briefly and continued, "¡He surely wanted to revive her!". After a moment of silence, she continued, "Human lifespan is short in comparison with other beings, all of you are born to die someday, is the natural law of life, he should have accepted his loss and carry on with his own life".

He was perplexed, "¿What do you mean? We are born knowing that we are going to die, is true, therefore that is why we live day by day fully, but, ¿What about the pain? ¿What about our feelings? They don't disappear just because someone has left, they stay in your heart, in your soul, making you bleed with pain".

She didn't stopped to think about his pain or feelings as he said, for her death in humans was just natural, "Leto anyone who tries to bring another being back to life deserves punishment, he is suffering the consequences of his own choices".

"¿How can you say that so easily?", he pouted sadly, not understanding her at all, "So that's what it takes, one mistake, just one bad choice, but, ¿Why should he pay eternally suffering from that curse? You don't know how much I despise that god, ¡Ankhseram! ¿Who does he think he is to decide for the human race?"

Zeus tried to reason with him and raised her voice a bit, "¡Your friend tried to play god!".

"¡Zeus, you don't seem to understand, when you lose someone precious, whom you loved so much that you would be willing to do anything for, only when you really learn to love that way, you will be able to understand how painful it is to have to let go!". Leto turned around, with his heart constricted, looking to the ground with sadness, "Although life continues to advance in the same way, despite that person absence, your heart remains stopped in that persons time". He faced Zeus, lifting his head until their eyes met again, "¡Such a god, so cruel, so cold and superficial, who does not know of pain or suffering, should not exist!", his hatred was so palpable that it frightened her.
