The next day, after Lucy left, Natsu asked the landlord lady if she had any information on Lucy's whereabouts, but she denied knowing anything about it. Happy asked her to please open the door to Lucy's apartment, but she refused his request.
At this point, Natsu no longer had the patience to persuade the owner, so he ended up threatening to blast the door open if she didn't open it, she had no choice but to give in and open the door.
As soon as she opened the door, he tried to catch her scent to track her down, however, it was as if she had vanished from her apartment, ¿How is this possible? He asked himself.
"¿Did you catch her scent Natsu? ¿Are we ready to follow her?", Happy asked as he looked around.
"No Happy, Lucy's scent disappeared at the end of the door...", he said sniffing the door, "along with Lucy's scent, I also caught the scent of some of her spirits, like Plue, Crux, Virgo and...", he stiffened, "Loke".
Happy was dumbfounded, "¿What do you mean Natsu? She couldn't just have disappeared out of nowhere, ¿Right?".
The owner started to get nervous, so she told them, "That's enough, I opened the door for you after your threats, because of you... I broke the rules as the owner, now get out of here", she looked at them sternly, "¡I said now!".
Natsu looked at Happy with complicity, while pretending to look for clues one last time to distract the landlord lady, Happy made sure to leave the apartment window open, then Happy winked at Natsu to indicate that it was done and followed by it, they left the apartment.
Since then, he visited her apartment every 3 days, hoping to find her there, but every time he came in and she wasn't there, he shook with sobs, falling into deep soreness. Happy patted his friend, "Natsu, ¿Why don't you write her a letter? Just as she writes for her mother, besides she loves reading and you can leave it on her desk, if she comes back and reads the letters, she will know that you've been very worried about her".
Natsu thought about it, it was actually a good idea, he wasn't that good at writing, but he could convey everything that way. His shadowed face lit up a bit at the idea, he left the apartment with Happy and bought the necessary to start writing, once he returned, the first word he wrote down was Apology. Then he began writing in the next page: Lucy I'm sorry for the way things turned out, I didn't mean anything I told you or what I said about Loke, I don't have any way to explain it either, it just happened. During the guild's attack, I was focused on the battle and did not pay attention to you until I heard Lisanna shouting your name and getting hurt on your behalf, that's why I thought you were covered by Lisanna's blood, however, I wanted you to know that, I would have assisted you first if I had noticed your wounds.
His face flushed while he was writing the last part of the letter: Luce, more than a best friend, you are the person I treasure the most, I really regret what I said, I'm really sorry for making you you leave the guild, please forgive me and come back, it's only been two days and I already missed you so much.
He left the letter on Lucy's desk, and headed to his house. He cried every night during the next 2 weeks.

It's been a month since Lucy left, Natsu keeps visiting her apartment every 3 days, as usual he wrote her a letter, on them, he shared his experiences during his missions, his, meals with Happy, the news from the guild, and as always he expressed in each letter how eager he was for her return.
Since she left, he decided to take only nearby duo-missions with Happy, this way he could stay most of the time in the guild and wait for Lucy's return, and because of that, he continued to reject Erza and Gray's invitation quests.
