We burst out of the elevator as it gets back to the dungeon and experimental area of the building, level 8. Luckily, it's deserted as we killed everything in sight.
We run and make those lefts, hopping over discarded bodies and mutts. I had tripped and almost face planted, but a strong arm tugged me up and put me back on my feet.
We reach the other elevator and press the up button, but the light doesn't turn on.
"What the fuck? It doesn't work." I say, a little panicked.
"Stairs." Bucky says and immediately turns and rounds a corner, us on his heels.
He kicks open a door to reveal a set of stairs. Wasting no time, we start climbing. Now my blood's pumping and I'm feeling energy flowing through my veins, adrenaline picking up, I'm able to keep up with the boys, and push out the pain from my body.
Flying is not an option right now.
We pass the other levels until we reach the ground level. I'm not sure how long we have left in terms of the five minutes, but I can only hope it's enough.
"Come on, come on." Steve mutters as we burst through a door and into the crowded and panicked hallways.
I immediately throw on our enchantment so that we have no trouble. A feeling of deja vu passes over me as the three of us push and shove to get a way out of the building and into the outdoors.
"This way!" Bucky calls out, grabbing onto Steve and I and tugging us into another less crowded hallway.
There are screams and people talking over each other, the sirens are blaring and everything is so chaotic.
Amazing.
I'm right on Bucky's heels, trying to push away my bouts of exhaustion and my dizziness. I see sunlight peeking out through doors a few yards away, but there are just so many people.
As we run, I push out my hand and feel relieved as a path is created in the middle of the people for us. I had created a gust of wind to shove people out of the way.
"Faster!" Steve calls.
We push and burst through the doors and out into the open. We're in the front of the building this time. Taking literally a second to ourselves we start running towards the woods.
We freeze though, as gunshots start to go off. Turning around, the Hydra workers who have given up have pulled out guns and started to shoot the ones running.
"Shit! Go!" I shove Steve on his back and push him forward.
Bucky leads and we run down the gravel, trying to get some cover. He looks back over his shoulder, and I barely catch the widening of his eyes, before he grabs me and shoves me in front of him, a gun shot cracking through the air.
James grunts and falls to his knees, myself staring down at him in shock. I look up and see the man who shot Bucky in the back. Tilting my head, I watch his body jerk as his neck breaks into pieces.
Steve rushes over and I'm brought back to reality.
"Bucky! Shit, come on man!" He hooks an arm under his and lifts him up.
I quickly come around and help on his other side. James cries out in pain and I bite my lip.
"You have to leave me." He says.
"Like hell we are." I tell him.
We continue to carry him a little further, barely making it to the woods, the trickle of water can be heard throughout the chaos, a river or something.
