Sipping on his pumpkin juice, Alex let his eyes wandered at each of the students faces that sitting in the same table as he was.
He silently observed each one and trying to familiarise himself with each of the faces, while the gang were busily talking to one another about the things that is definitely not concerning him. Once in a while, he would nodding and laughing along.
But of course, his main focus was around him. He couldn't shake his worries on the fact that the killer is literally hiding in a plain sight. He hated the fact that every students, including the professors, school staff; just literally everyone in that very hall, were so freaking normal and it just ain't sitting right with him. There's a killer on the loose for Merlin's sake. They could be aiming for their victims right at this moment, or maybe pretending to be a friend, acting innocent, laughing and eating on the same table,.
Ugh.
That's actually pissing him off.
"You okay?" Hermione asked.
Alex quickly dart his eyes on her, "Hm? Yeah, of course... Why'd you ask?"
Hermione gave him a smile, "You just seems disturbed..."
"Told ya," Ginny commented. "He often lost in his thought,"
Alex just grinned abashedly, "No, I was just--- comparing things with my school, like the size of this gigantic hall, for example." he lied.
Hermione perked up, "Which school are you from, Alex?"
"Hm...." He leans forward with his arms crossed over the desk, "Well, it's um, just a small academy, and just recently built so you probably never heard of it."
"Oh yeah?"
Alex nodded, "You know, Moxarths Academy?"
Hermione tilted and slowly shook her head, "Sorry..."
Alex chuckles, "Don't worry bout' it. I'm just hoping that after I joined this program, people would know about our existence better,"
"And I think you've mentioned that your school doesn't put flying course as mandatory, right?" Ginny chipped in.
"Right, that... And that our school is too small to have Quidditch field to train."
"So you guys do not have Quidditch then?" a small Irish wizard suddenly asked. Alex believed his name was Seamus? Or was it Samus?
"Erm, yeah... Well, for the time being.. I think our school just mainly focused on the academic part?" Alex replied, but sounding unsure with his own answers.
"Sounds like Hermione's dream school," a blonde girl with half-ponytail tied with purple ribbon chimed in. Hermione make a disgusted face at the girl as she had to scoot a little to the side as the newcomer rudely taking some of her sitting.
Flipping her blonde locks, she gave the veela a sickeningly sweet smile, "Anyway, Alex... Are you single?"
Alex arched his brows at her question. He has gotten used to girls confessing or asking him that particular question but the way she rudely interrupting their conversation and forcing Hermione to move slightly from her seat, it just ticking him off.
"Yes and no, I'm not interested," Alex politely smile at her before taking sips of his juice. The witch was slightly taken aback but Alex figures that she wasn't the type to just gave up.
"Yet," she winked.
Alex felt slightly uncomfortable at that. There's so many hidden meaning behind that three letter words- Yet. The fact that she looks ordinary, yet extremely confident with herself. There are chances that she would be feeding him with love potion infested food in the future. Maybe this is a sign that Alex should start to take extra cautious with food he's going to eat.
