"Damn, that's a sexy ass beach."

From where Emery sat, the view of the ocean was breathtaking. The hues of blues collapsing against the sunlight are altogether nice if he must admit, but what stood out among those was the 20-foot stonewall house overlooking most trees that outlined the path leading towards the resort. As Bryce drove further into the gate, Emery could already tell just by looking at the distant balconies that he'll be spending way more time in the comfort of this two-story cave more than he will with jellyfish and clams.

At a distance, he could see people running after each other by the shore, a few more than Emery had anticipated. He could feel himself leaving the edge of his seat as Bryce drove down a steep course that finally brought them inside the private resort, allowing everyone to see what the walls are hiding. Which was a lot.  Even though the place was basically surrounded by wildlife, you could still see the neighboring town they passed by on the way behind it. There were two other buildings apart from the house. One is a tiny shed Emery assumed is where they keep fishnets or rowboats and other sea stuff. The other was a lighthouse, erected a few feet away uphill.

Honest-to-God truth, this shouldn't be all bad. All of this will be free to them for the next ten weeks and the resort is a big space. If he was anything close to up for it, Emery would be all sorts of running around it for the rest of their stay. Besides, the downside of this vacation was yet to make its presence known.

"Blake's family owns all this?" Emery asked once they got out of the car, curious. He was already aware that more than half his friends were rich, but seeing what he's seeing now, takes things to a whole new level.

"Yeah. They're crazy rich, like you know, old-money rich," Bryce told him. "He gets a big part of this and all of the other properties his grandparents own in his inheritance."

Emery gawked. Wow. Maybe he's crushing after the wrong guy then.

He was about to say something when Bryce's phone went off. The blond wasted no time to answer, a huge grin appearing on his face as soon as he did.

"Hey, Olivia. Yeah, we just got here, traffic was pretty heavy," he said. Emery went halfway back inside the car to get his things just as Ian got out with two of his bags, sunglasses perched on top of his ruffled brown hair, curiosity etching onto his face when he heard his mother's name.

"Yeah, it's nice. I'll send you pictures once we're settled in," they overheard Bryce continue as he laughed. "That's perfect, did she like the blue ones?"

The sun hung low in the sky, which reminded Emery to call his parents as promised before it gets dark. Fishing his phone out of his pocket, he waited for someone to pick up until a feminine voice answered from the other line.

"Hey, honey, I was just about to call."

"Hey, Mom. We just got off the car," he greeted with a smile.
