Blake managed to rent eight bicycles by the time they finished lunch.

It wasn't anything out of the blue, very much unlike every single decision he has ever made in his life. This morning, while they were feasting on ham and eggs and slightly burnt coffee by Cate that she insisted was just 'strong coffee you wusses can't handle,' Allison suggested that they do something nice for the week. While everyone laughed at Bryce for saying they should just stay in and enjoy the rest of the vacation in complete idle silence, Ian, after calling his boyfriend a boring old man, built on that and said they should go to an ATV adventure park.

Everyone declined, saying they didn't have the money for that–after of course Cameron and Blake declined to offer up their credit cards for fun–except for Emery, whose reason was that he refuses to 'be maimed by riding a death machine.'

Hence, the eight bicycles.

Cameron asked Blake when he arrived, perplexed as he eyed the bikes parked at the foot of the stairs that led into the house. "Did you bring all of this yourself?"

"No, I paid Rodrigo to help," Blake answered, pointing behind him to someone nobody noticed standing far away. "Say hi to Rodrigo."

Waving their hands weakly at the mustached middle-aged man, everyone greeted in unison, "Hi, Rodrigo..."

Bryce muttered to Blake, "You just happen to know a guy who sells bikes?"

Blake laughed. "Oh no, these are rentals," he said, tapping the handles. "And Rodrigo's main hustle isn't as much bikes as low-star cocaine so he's pretty much well acquainted with everyone in this place."

"Okay, I can't tell if you're joking," Bryce replied worriedly as he hurried next to Blake, who walked off snickering. "Blake, you have to say 'I'm kidding' when you make jokes like that. Blake!"

As Rodrigo left and Cate stepped out of the door, everyone was good to go wherever their bikes might take them for the entirety of the afternoon. Each person had their own bike Blake picked for them, and Asher, for one, was not happy.

"Why do I get the pink one?" Asher huffed, scowling at his rubber-handled pink bicycle.

Beside him, Blake was poorly holding his laugh. "What? Pink's fashionable."

Asher scowled at him. "You're clearly smiting me," he said.

Blake coaxed, "You love pink."

Allison decided to join the conversation. "This is great, I never get to ride one of these back home."

"That's because you're always on that damn phone," Asher told her.

Allison pressed her lips before speaking, "Pink looks great on you."

Cate laughed after Asher said something in response to that, but Cameron was too busy looking at Emery and his yellow bike to keep up with the rest of the conversation. The redhead looked more than happy with his color, and Cameron was more than happy to take a quick picture.
