Evidently, it was the longest night he's ever had.

Lucas took Blake on his stupid offer, and as much as he thought he was good at hiding it, Cameron knew Emery would be there seeing every bit of twitch of his eyebrows, every added crease that formed on his forehead, and every ill-timed cough whenever Lucas opened his mouth. So he tried not to do any of those things too much because his only other choice fell to hiding in the bathroom and leaving his boyfriend with Mr. Beady Eye across the couch, and hell would sooner freeze over than that happening.

He thought these feelings would be over the moment Emery became his boyfriend, but maybe it is true that old habits never die.

Also, he's an impulsive, jealous fuck. That, Cameron is willing to admit as much.

"How's Sadie?" Emery asked, setting his cup down next to Lucas', and Cameron wanted to die.

They've been talking about Lucas since God invented the sun, and now his sister. How interesting could his family be, really?

"Pretty much the same since you last saw her," Lucas answered with a laugh. "'Cept she dyed her hair green."

Blake raised his head. "I was going to dye my hair green," he let out, frustrated. "What am I supposed to do now?"

"What do you mean, what are you supposed to do now?" Asher asked as he laughed. "And really? Green?"

"Excuse you, I look great in every color. Bryce tell him," Blake replied, and Bryce, who was probably not even listening, gave him a hearty thumbs-up. "And everyone knows you can't dye your hair a color if someone else is already doing it."

"She's a kid and she doesn't even live here, what's your point?"

"Why do you always have beef with me?" Blake complained. "Whatever. What do you know? You get your fashion advice from bathroom magazines."

Ian chimed in, "What about red?"

Blake's face gleamed with hope. "Ooh..." He pointed his finger at Ian. "You have valuable opinions."

While everyone was busy discussing Blake's hair dye options, Lucas turned to Emery. "She's been asking about you, too, you know." He sounded casual, like he didn't have any agenda behind his words, which would've convinced Cameron if it wasn't for him saying, "She asked me yesterday if you were gonna come over again and I-"

Cameron's heartbeat spiked, about to do something demented he'll most probably regret and cringe about in the middle of the night for the next ten years, but the hand on his knee stopped him, followed by the sound of Emery awkwardly swerving the topic off with a laugh.

"I'd love to but she's gonna have to ask the boss 'cause the last time she hogged me overnight, this one wouldn't let me hear the end of it," Emery said, pointing to the person he was talking about.
