We walked down the street, not knowing where we were going. It's was cold and dark outside, the neon signs lighting up sections of the street. "Are you cold?" Adam asked. "A little if i'm honest." He looked across the street at a diner. "We could grab dinner from there if you want? Only if you want to though. I know we just met and I don't want you to feel like i'm rushing you or anything." he said, defending himself. "I'd love to, but I didn't bring any money with me, Izzy told me she'd buy the drinks to try and get me to come out." I chuckled and looked to the floor. Puddles forming infront of me. "I'll pay. Come on let's get in before it really starts raining." He took my hand and crossed the street. "Oh but Adam I don't want you to think i'm just using you for money. I will pay you back." I said. I was worried that he'd think i was just using him for his wallet. He probably didn't. But still. My mind ran along with that idea. "No, don't worry about it. I don't think that and you don't have to pay me back. I enjoy spending time with you." He smiled and opened the door. A bell rang and a short fat man looked over the counter. The diner was near enough empty, with only a group of 4 teenagers in a corner. "Or we could just get snacks and watch a movie" I chuckled. "If that's what you want to do." he replied. "I don't mind." I said. The rain grew heavier and heavier. Oceans forming in the road. "On second thought, Let's stay here then." I said looking out the window. Adam let out a laugh and we sat down at a table.
"Adam." I said looking over my milkshake and empty plates at him. "Annie." he replied, doing the same. "Is this a date?" I asked, hoping he wouldn't run off scared. He looked at me worried for a second. "I-If you would like to to be then yeah. If not, we can stay friends, I don't mind." He leant forward taking a sip of his milkshake. "I would like it to be, I like you Adam." I replied, taking a sip of mine. "I like you too Annie." He smiled over his glass. "Wanna head out?" "Where to?" I asked. "Home?" "I'm not ready to go home just yet." I answered. "Okay but we have to go now because we can't stay in here and not order anything else, the man will be expecting us to get something." he laughed. I grabbed my coat and Adam left money on the table for the waitress. We headed out, the rain still coming. "It's freezing!" I said back to him as he opened the door for me. "We can't stay out here, you'll get ill." he said, taking my hand and rushing down the street. "Where are we going?" I asked. "My place, get you dried and I will dive you home." "Thank you Adam. Really." I replied, holding his hand tighter. He turned and smiled, "my pleasure Annie."
We got to Adams apartment block. He unlocked the door with a pin and we got into the building. We went into an elevator and Adams room was straight infront. He unlocked the door and inside was a living room full of guitars and keyboards. "Wow this is amazing!" I said in surprise as he took my coat off. "Thank you." Adam said. "Do you do music yeah?" I asked. "Yeah, I do music with my brothers. We go on tours and stuff." Oh so your in an actual band? That's so cool Adam." "Yeah, it's called AJR." "You're kidding?" I asked surprised. "No why?" he asked confused. "I've heard of you guys! I've heard Weak, Burn The House Down, Sober Up, After Hours, you guys are great!" he laughed a little. "Thank you Annie." he said sitting down. I went and sat beside him. "We need to get you in some dry clothes." He said looking down at me. I was significantly smaller then him, even sitting down. "Come on." He took my hand and got up. He walked to the bedroom and started pulling out hoodies and sweaters. He pulled out a deep red sweater and came over to me, holding it to my shoulders to size it. "This'll do just fine." he said. "Okay you get changed in here and I'll get changed in the bathroom." He walked to the bathroom, closing the door. I pulled off my drenched dress and put them into a bag Adam had told me to put my wet things in. I pulled on the sweater, it was huge on me, It had baggy arms and came down half way above my knees, it was like a dress.
"You decent?" he shouted from the bathroom. "Yeah, you can come in now." I shouted back. "You look so small and cute in that!" he said smiling in his grey sweatpants and black hoodie in the doorway at me. "Don't make fun of my size!" We laughed as he walked over to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and gave me a hug. "You're sure you're alright?" He asked worried. "Adam. I'm fine. I promise." I looked up into his eyes, reassuring him. "Whatever you say." he replied. Out of the corner of my eye i saw a clock. "2:30!" I said surprised. "I need to get home!" I put on my soaking shoes and headed to the apartment door. Adam grabbed my hand. "You can't go home this late." he said. "What if something happens to you?" He asked. "I'll drive you." He said grabbing his keys. "Adam you've done enough for me already." i said, putting his keys back down. "I'll be fine." I said, reaching for the door. "Annie I can't let you go out on your own this late. At least let me walk you." "Adam, you've done enough honestly. Stop worrying." "Fine. You sleep at mine then. You take the bed, I'll take the couch." he offered. "You take the bed and I'll take the couch." I replied.
"I'm not going to make a woman sleep on a couch." he said, almost offended. "I sleep on the couch tonight." he said. The rain started picking up again, slamming on the windows. "Fine." I said, taking off my shoes. "Good." Adam smiled. He walked over to a desk and pulled out a draw under it. He pulled out a pillow and a blanket and put them on the couch for him. "The bathroom is on the left." he said. " And if you need a drink, help yourself." he looked up and smiled. "Thank you Adam. I really appreciate this." I said. "I'll come and tuck you in." He smiled and came over to the bed. I lay down, him putting the covers over me. I smiled up at him and once again thanked him as he said goodnight. He turned out the light and I shut my eyes.
