"How dare you. How dare you do this to me?"  the voices rang in my head again. I tried to wake up. I felt paralyzed. "How could you? After everything you did to me?"  The mans voice repeated. "After everything I DID TO YOU?" I once again screamed back. "YOU are the reason for this! You know what YOU did to ME!" I screamed in defense. Different night, same night mare. When would it end? I only ever remember that bit of it. I'm sure it goes on for longer, but it's only ever that part that sticks around.

"Annie!" I heard Adam shout and I woke up, staring at him. "Are you okay?" He had a worried face. "Yeah, why?" I lied. "You were shaking and mumbling something." He replied. "Oh." I sat up. "Are you sure you're okay? What's wrong?" He asked, also sitting up. "Yeah, it was just a nightmare Adam." I replied, forcing a smile. "Was it the same as last time?" "Yeah. It's always the same." I smiled and looked down, trying to hold in the tears.  "Oh Annie." He said pulling me into a side hug. "Don't cry, it's okay. They'll end soon." He comforted me. "Are you sure? I don't think they will Adam." "Of course they will. They can't stay forever, and you'll be braver each time it happens." "I guess." I said, pulling away and wiping my eyes. Adam checked his phone and it was 9:30 am. "Wanna go out for breakfast?" He asked. "Yeah okay." I replied, smiling. "But I won't change, I need to shower and actually wear some of my own clothes." I laughed. "You can shower here if you want, then we can go yours. I need one too anyway so whilst you get dressed I'll shower." He replied.

Once we was showered and dressed, Adam drove to my apartment and I got changed into some of my own stuff. "You look nice." Adam said as I came out of my bedroom. "Thank you." I said. Just as Izzy entered the apartment too with our german shepherd puppy Max. "Oh hey Annie! Hi Adam!" She said as she closed the front door. "Hi Iz. Where's Ryan?" I asked. "Oh he stayed back at Jack and his place." She replied. "Oh. Wait did you let Max stay at Jack and Ryan's?" I asked surprised. "Yeah, he was fine." She replied, unclipping his lead. "Even with Shay?" Adam asked. "Yeah, they actually seemed to get along really well." She said smiling. "Oh that's good." I said as I got my keys and placed them in my pocket. "Are you two going out today?" Izzy asked. "Yeah, we are gonna go and get breakfast." I replied. "Are you two like a thing now or.." She questioned. Adam and I looked at each other. "Something like that." He answered, saving my ass. "Oh okay... Well have fun on your date." She winked at me as we walked out the door. "Awkward." He said as we walked to his car. "Yeah." I chuckled. "She loves putting people on the spot." I added.
Once we arrived to a small cafe about 10 minutes away from my place, we sat down at a table and a waiter came over to us straight away. "Just a hot chocolate for me please." I answered. "And you?" She looked at Adam. "Same for me too please." He added. "Okay, your drinks will be here soon." She turned on her heel and strode off. "So what do you want to do today?" I asked him. "I'm not sure, whatever you would like to do." He replied. "I asked first." I smirked. "I know." He said, also smirking. "Go on." I added. "We should invite, Jack, Marie, Ryan and Izzy over for a karaoke night." Adam laughed. "Omg yeah! That's a great idea!" I replied. "Here are your drinks." The waitress from before interrupted. "Thank you." We said in union as she walked off. "She's a strange one." I said to Adam. "Agreed." He replied. I raised my mug to take a drink when I noticed Adam was copying me. As we took a sip, we narrowed our eyes, locking them. We placed our cups down. I took my glasses off, something Adam couldn't do. But still, he made the hand motion. "I know what you're doing." I said to him, to which he copied too. I wanted to make him down his hot chocolate. So that's what I did. I took my cup and started drinking, competitively. It was like we were having a race. He won. He placed his cup down and finally stopped copying me. "I'll always win." He said. "I'm not to sure about that." I replied. "Oh yeah? Why's that?" He asked. "I'm a  Jockey." I added. He sat back. "A jockey? Why didn't you tell me?" He asked. "You never asked. Besides, how didn't you realize before? I have all my riding clothes in my room." I added. He paused for a sec thinking. "I guess I just never put two and two together." He said. "Wait so you race?" He questioned. "Yeah. My next race is in a few days." "Where at?" "Aqueduct RaceTrack." I replied. "Oh okay. Have you ever won?" he asked. "Yeah, twice, both times on a horse called A Jab In The Jaw." I answered. "That's really cool Annie." He replied, smiling. "Thank you." I side smiled. It went silent for a few seconds.
"Adam?"  "Annie." He answered. "Are we a thing?" I asked. "Do you want to be a thing?" He questioned. "Yeah. I think what we have is nice." I answered. "I do too. I'd Like to be a 'thing' with you." He replied, smiling. "Wanna go shopping?" He asked. "Yeah sure, I have money." I answered as I stood up. "Don't worry about it, I'll pay." Adam left money on the table and we got into the car. "The Mall?" I asked. "Yeah okay." He answered.
