The Ninjago Games

Chapter Eight

Garmadon's POV

        I sat at the kitchen table with my wife, Misako. We were drinking tea and watching the news on the television. I heard talking outside. I looked at the door. Misako looked up as well. The door opened and Lloyd walked inside.
        "Good evening, Father," Lloyd smiled.
        "Hello, Lloyd," I smiled back.
        "I brought some old friends," Lloyd stepped out of the doorway. Jay, Cole, Kai, and Nya walked in.
        "Good evening," I glanced at all of them, one by one.
        They all smiled back.
        I guess I should make some tea for you all," Misako said. She walked into the kitchen.
        "Please," I stood up, "Come and sit."
        "There's going to be a special announcement tonight on TV by President Chen," Misako said from the kitchen.
        "What do you think it could be?" Kai asked.
        Jay shrugged. Lloyd led them to in front of the television and sat them down on the pillows on the floor. Misako returned with a tray in her hands that held a teapot and five teacups. She gave Lloyd and his friends a teacup with some tea.
        The Ninjago anthem played on the TV as the screen changed to President Chen at a podium. Chen looked at the camera with a smile that wasn't real, but didn't look fake.
        "Good evening, Ninjago," the president said. "Tonight is a special night. I am planning to start a televised tournament."
        "Do you think this is what Borg was talking about?" Kai whispered to Lloyd.
        "Could be," Lloyd replied. "But why would he be sad about it?"
        "This tournament will be no ordinary tournament," Chen said. "This will show you all that the Capitol is generous enough to let all of you live in this land, give you jobs, and food. This tournament will be called The Ninjago Games. All of the citizens in Ninjago shall be safe. Except for those who hold an element between the ages of fifteen to twenty five. More information about the Ninjago Games tomorrow morning. Thank you."
        My eyes widened. My jaw dropped. Those who hold an element?
        Misako covered her mouth, and let out a small sob.
        Nya's hands covered her face. The rest of them looked at each other in shock. Lloyd was looking at me with a saddened look on his face. Tears formed in his eyes. I swallowed, trying not to sob.
        Lloyd opened his mouth and spoke in a small, wobbly voice. They way he did when he was younger and frightened. "I'm sorry."
