It had been a few months since Hawks had taken Doll captive for her safety. When he wasn't away doing whatever they had him doing or tending to his usual hero duties, he spent his time with her. The nights he stayed at the base of operations for the Paranormal Liberation Front, they shared a room. Though they still couldn't speak freely for fear they were being monitored and most of their conversations were coded and strained.
Doll heard the sound of someone moving outside her bedroom door. Thinking it might be Hawks, she scrambled out of bed and raced for the door. He'd been gone for several weeks and she was starting to grow anxious. She'd resorted to keeping herself locked in her room since she'd run out of bandages and didn't know who to ask for more. She flung the door open and gasped as she spotted Dabi standing on the other side of it.
He took one look at her in her unbandaged state and his eyes grew wide as he looked at the plethora of scars and carvings etched into her skin. Doll slammed the door shut in a panic and raced back to the bed. She ripped one of the blankets off the bed and wrapped it around herself as the door quietly opened.
"You don't look very sick." Dabi remarked with a frown, her excuse the past few days for not leaving her room was that she didn't feel well.
"Go away." Doll grumbled as she hid her body.
Dabi stepped into the room and Doll felt her heart start to pound in her chest as he kicked the door shut. She tensed and prepared to activate her quirk. Sensing her hostility Dabi rolled his eyes, "relax, I'm not going to do anything to you. Even though you're the enemy." He smirked. "That kind of loyalty isn't something that can be swayed away or bought, you're still loyal to Endeavor."
Doll pulled a long thin needle that had been sewn on the inside of her tank top out and braced herself.
Dabi sighed, "I just said I wasn't going to do anything, relax."
"You also just declared me your enemy." Doll tightened her grip on the needle.
"Yes, but that shouldn't be so surprising, you did almost kill me." Dabi shrugged.
"You were going to hurt people I care about." Doll pointed, unfeeling.
"Yeah, about them..." he trailed off before smirking, "I want you to help me with something."
"No." Doll replied flatly.
"Come on, you'll learn some interesting things about your beloved mentor." Dabi extended a hand to her.
"What exactly are you doing?" Doll frowned.
"I was going to make a video and could use your help." He shrugged.
Doll hesitated, "why do you want my help?"
"I don't really, I just want to see your reaction." Dabi smirked, "maybe I can shake that unshakable loyalty to Endeavor."
Doll glared at him.
"Ditch the blankets, drop the needle and let's go." Dabi held his hand out.
Doll hesitated. "I can hurt you without it." She dropped the needle to the ground, "and I don't feel comfortable being around people without bandages." She kept a firm grip on the blanket.
"Yeah, you are pretty frightening." Dabi poked at her, "let's go."
Doll felt tears sting at her eyes but held them back, she didn't like being unbandaged. She dropped the blanket and reluctantly moved toward him but refused to take his hand.
Dabi chuckled softly and led the way. " I wonder if people saw what you really looked like if they'd want to be saved by you..."
Doll wrapped her arms around herself but said nothing.
