Doll was banned from training and active duty until her quirk had time to recharge. She spent all of her time cooped up in her room. On the third evening of her recovery as she laid atop her bed talking to Buttons about the very handsome and suave number two hero, Hawks, someone kicked her door open. It nearly flew off its hinges, opening with such force it smacked into the opposite wall, breaking the doorstop. Doll jumped and looked to her door to see an irate girl with flaming hair, sharp teeth and fierce eyes, Burnin.
"STOP MOPING IN YOUR ROOM!" Burnin snarled.
Doll sat up and looked to the older girl curiously, "I'm moping?"
"I don't know! You're locked up here in your room! You haven't come down for any meals!" Burnin snapped.
Doll looked to the small shelf of snacks that she'd been living off of for the past few days and pointed at it. "It's not like I don't have food in her—."
"Shut up! I made you food, you better eat it, don't let all my hard work go to waste! Take better care of yourself!" She turned on her heel and stormed away.
Doll stared after her in awe before looking over at Buttons. "I think Burnin is worried about me."
"NOT WORRIED!" Burnin snapped from down the hall before her own door slammed shut.
Doll giggled quietly at her senior's way of showing concern before scooping Buttons up into her arms. It was late enough that everyone else had probably retired for the day save for the few who were on active duty, but they were probably out patrolling or at their desks. She squeezed Buttons close and stepped into a pair of plain black slippers and pulled a plain black robe over her pajamas.
She quietly made her way down to the kitchens and found a plate with half a roll of cling wrap around it and a sloppy note in Burnin's handwriting that read. 'I slaved away to make this for you, you better eat it!'
Doll smiled and carried the cling wrapped plate to the cafeteria. She didn't want to bother turning the lights on since she was by herself and grabbed a flashlight from the cafeteria. She turned it on and set the base on the table in front of her causing the beam to shoot up toward the ceiling casting a soft faint glow of light around her. She smiled and set Buttons down on the table to sit across from her. Her cloudy white eyes fell on the cling wrapped plate and she let out a sigh before starting the daunting, exhausting process of unwrapping it. Burnin went overboard. Doll could imagine her angry senior struggling to get the cling wrap to cut evenly, giving up and using the rest of the roll in a fiery rage. She managed to get the note free and set it on the table with a giggle at the imagery before going back to work to unwrap the plate.
By the time she unwrapped the plate she was exhausted and wasn't sure she had the energy to eat any of it. It was just standard cafeteria food, there was a small section with some salad, a protein rich wrap and some fruit and vegetables. Burnin hadn't slaved away at all, she'd just picked up an extra tray at lunch. Doll poked at the food not really feeling hungry and gave up with a sigh, shoving the tray to the side. She could hear Burnin's voice in her head screaming at her to eat something.
"Mind if I join you?" A familiar voice sounded from the open cafeteria doors.
Doll nearly fell off the bench as she jumped at the sudden sound and peered through the darkness to see a familiar winged silhouette. "H-Hawks?!" Her voice cracked, "what are you doing here?"
"I told you I'd be in the area." He pointed with a smile as he approached the table she was sitting at. He wasn't wearing his hero attire, instead he was dressed in a pair of nice dark jeans, a plain white V-neck t-shirt and a dark jacket. His feathery ash blonde hair was partially swept back. Doll noticed he had two bags in his hand and the smell of fried chicken permeated the air. He stopped once he reached the table and looked at her untouched tray of boring looking cafeteria food. "I brought food." He held up a bag with a fried chicken logo on it.
