"How do you know Nat, Marcella?" Steve asked, breaking the silence of the quinjet.Marcella snapped out of her thoughts and turned to him. "Every time they took me off ice, they would put me on a mission. After that mission I'd go to the Red Room. They made me teach the girls how to fight and how to do ballet."
"Ballet?" He asked, curiously. He'd seen a pair of ballet slippers in Natasha's area of the Avengers tower before. He assumed she learned at one point but never thought to ask when.
"It was part of their training, used to teach discipline and grace. They didn't stop teaching it, even after I never returned."
"Why didn't you?"
"The Red Room started stealing valuable information from the Winter Soldier program sometime when I was on ice. Hydra found out, cut them off, and I never saw Romanoff again." Marcella sighed, "She was four."
Steve nodded his head.
"I'm surprised she remembered me," Marcella unbuckled her seat belt. She stood up and walked towards the back of the jet. She found the washroom and stepped inside, closing the door behind her. She needed a moment alone to collect herself. They were only a few hours away from going back to where it all started. It was strange feeling as most of her life she had been a prisoner in the Siberian fortress that gave her life and death.
When she stepped out of the bathroom she heard the men speaking.
"I don't know if I'm worth all this, Steve," said Bucky. His tone was just as depressive as how Marcella was feeling.
"What you did all those years; It wasn't you."
There was a heavy pause between them all. Marcella heard her heart skip a beat in a sickening way.
"But I still did it."
Marcella felt like he punched her in the stomach with that metal arm of his, and all the air rushed out of her lungs. He was right. They did all those things and it didn't matter what anyone else's thought, they'd always have the blood on their hands and the screams in their ears.
Marcella slammed the bathroom door shut, harder than she wanted too and it made Bucky jolt. He turned around to see her. Her expression was angry and defeated. He stood up and tapping Steve on the shoulder then started walking towards her instead. He took her arm and pulled her deeper into the quinjet, somewhere Steve would't hear as much. "You we're going to leave without us, weren't you?" Bucky asked.
"I might've," she looked around her and then back to him. "Why did you say that to Steve? His team has been arrested because of us."
