"Everything Hydra put inside me is still there. All he had to do was say the goddamn words."

"Who was he?"

"I don't know."

"People are dead. The bombings, the setup, the doctor. He did all that just to get ten minutes with you. I need you to do better than - I don't know."

Bucky thought for a moment before looking back up at Steve.

"He wanted to know about Siberia. Where I was kept. He wanted to know exactly where."

"Why would he need to know that?"

"Because—"

Bucky's mouth shut before he could answer the question. His eyes trailed past Steve and Sam, towards the opening of the garage. The Avengers themselves turned around and looked towards the cause of Bucky's distraction.

Standing with her arms crossed as she leaned against the wall, a young woman wearing stolen black military wear stared at her mission. Her stare pierced Bucky's soul, barely giving any thought to looking at Steve and Sam. They recognized her immediately and became guarded, unsure of her loyalties. Everything was quiet.

Steve looked back to Buck, "Because what, Buck?"

The Winter Soldier dropped his head back to look at the fist of his titanium hand and the blonde woman sighed out loud at his cowardice.

"Because he's not the only Winter Soldier," she finished for him.

2016 - Bucharest, Romania
The night before the disaster

A harsh knock at Bucky's apartment door woke him. It was early in the morning, practically still night.

He pushed himself off his mattress and onto his feet. Slowly and quietly he walked towards his apartment door. Who could it possibly be at this hour? As he walked towards his door, his senses went haywire. Something felt odd, wrong, and dangerous. Familiar. Whoever was knocking on his door wasn't supposed to be there.

Bucky stopped walking at holding his breath for a few moments. Then he heard a voice.

"Please, Sir! It's your neighbour, I need your help!"

The young woman's terrified voice made Bucky jump. He unlocked the door and opened the handle just a little.

The door was pushed open by a force as strong as his own. Bucky fell to his back, the push throwing him into his table and chair. The chair broke beneath his weight. The light in the hallway created a silhouette around the woman as she stepped into his apartment. She closed the door behind herself with a slam and everything went back into darkness.

Bucky jumped up and looked in the darkness for the threat. He felt blind and tried to rely on his other senses, but she was too quick. A few powerful knuckles to his face caught him off guard and made him drop to the hardwood floor with a bang. He anticipated her next move by chance. He blocked a kick to his stomach and swiped a leg out from under his intruder. They dropped to the floor but just as quickly grappled to secure him to the floor.
