"Is this the part where we talk?""Probably."
They didn't get to talk. As soon as they finished cleaning themselves up, they heard Sam's foot steps coming down the hall.
"Yo! Guys! Sharon's got a lead, we're out of here!" His voiced echoed off the walls. "And your shoes... um... they're in the hall."
Bucky and Marcella looked at each other, then he immediately started walking towards the door. A part of him was almost happy to get away from the conversation before it started, another part felt guilty.
"James." She called him back, scowling.
"We'll talk later."
Marcella grabbed his arm and yanked him back. "When's later?"
Bucky glared down at her, "If you've forgotten we're on a mission, Marcella. There's more important things going on and I don't know when will be the right time."
Marcella pursed her lips, and then shoved past him. "Yeah, there's always something that's more important to you, Barnes. You'd do anything not to talk."
Bucky followed behind her. "What do you mean by that?"
"You know damn well what I mean!" Marcella put her shoes on quickly and didn't wait for him. "I just want you to talk to me but you won't even try. Please, stop being such a coward and hiding from me! I don't understand!"
Bucky's entire body filled with red hot anger. Hiding? "Coward?"
After the endgame battle between Thanos's army and the Avengers, Marcella and Bucky went back to Wakanda. He took a step inside their lodging and saw it littered with dust. The flowers that were once lively were practically decomposed. Nothing about it seemed like home they once shared. It felt like grave.
"Marcella?" He asked her, turning around to find her not stepping beyond the front door.,
"Yeah?"
"Where have you been?"
She sighed, taking the step inside at looking around. "I stopped living here around three years ago as soon as Shuri fixed me up completely."
"Why?"
"It got lonely. I had to move."
"Where?"
"Around. Ive um... been working in refugee camps and safe houses in Africa and Europe. Then, I stayed in the palace with Shuri when she wanted help or just some company."
"Five years." His heart was heavy and his brain hurt.
Marcella nodded. "Yes. Five years you were gone."
Bucky walked to the bed, taking his jacket off. "It felt like being put on ice, but this time I had no warning... I just was nothing."
Marcella took off her own jacket and place it on the table. "Were you in pain?"
Bucky nodded his head and sat down on his old sheets. "For a moment. That moment I stepped to you."
Marcella walked to him and laid down on the bed beside him. "Everything's different now. We should talk about it."
Bucky nodded his head, laying back in the bed and closing his eyes. "What could really have changed in five years, Marcella?" They'd gone more than five years on ice, missing large chunks of time and each other before. His fingers reached out to hers and wrapped around her knuckles.
