I was leaning against me glass wall, inspecting my nails, when I heard footsteps. "Hey Kovit!" I called as he turned the corner, and Mirella hid under her blanket. "How do you know what Aphrodisiac smells like?" He asked, and I tapped the glass. "I've met a lot of Aurs. My parents ran a rehabilitation center for Unnaturals put in black markets. A lot of Aurs there." I said, and Kovit looked at Mirella.
"So.... I'm Jimena, and why are you here?" I asked, and he smirked. "I'm here because I'm bored." He said, and I shrugged. "What do you think I can do about it?" I asked, and he shrugged. "Talk to me." He said, and I smirked. "Uh.... unless you wanna know animal facts and myths, I'm kinda drawing a blank." I said, and he gave me a psychotic smile. "Go ahead." He said, and I smiled. "Uh..... okay. How about.... Medusa? Okay, once, in ancient Greece, there was a beautiful woman named Medusa, and one day the god of the sea, Poseidon, saw her, and fell in love. The gods, however, did not condone this, and so they met in secret.
"One day, with the help of Medusa s sisters Stheno and Euryale, they met in Athenas temple. The goddess of wisdom, Athena, was furious, and cursed Medusa and her sisters to become monsters, snake haired forgone doomed to eternal lives without love or joy. Medusa got the worst punishment, however, doomed to turn all those who gaze upon her to stone.
One day, decades later, the hero Perseus, so of the sky king Zues, was sent to slay her. He arrived at her lair with gifts from gods, a curved sword to behead her, a bag to hold the head, winged sandals from Hermes, which allowed the wearer to fly, and the cap of Hades, told to let the user turn invisible. He marched into the lair, armed with these godly gifts, and used the shields reflection to guide himself, and cut of her head as she slept.
"Medusa fell, her head severed from her neck in a mess of ichor and bronze, and two children sprang from the severance, children of a god and a monster. The winged horse Pegasus, and the human Chrysaor, the theif of the sea. Perseus began his return home, and on the way he saw the princess Andromeda, chained before a sea monster, and used Medusas' head to turn it to stone, and took the lovely princess as his bride. He gave the head to Athena, who put the wretched thing on her sheild, and gave the rest to Hermes, and the two lived forever more as legends of Greece." I finished, and the two, Mirella and Kovit, staring at me like children hearing a bedtime story.
"Impressive." Mirella whispered, and I smiled. "Mythology is awesome." I smiled, and Kovit smiled back. "Kovit! Prepare cell three, we have a new one!" Reyes yelled, and Kovit looked at me. I felt terror and pity for the new "inventory."
