A Hunter's Curse

Chapter 10: Escape

Mileena felt unclean and queasy after the previous night and she felt embarrased and ashamed of what had been done to her.

I need to escape as soon as possible she thought as she began to cry about everything that had happened so far.

She felt hopeless and lost and didn't know if Manak was dead or lucky enough to be alive....but if he was alive it would mean he would be a vampire.

Hours passed by and Mileena was still trapped in the tepee with practically all hope lost. The vampire who was left to guard her was passed out in the corner and Mileena could see the rays of the afternoon sun. She felt sleepy and her body was numb from being in one position for too long.

As she closed her eyes to doze off to sleep, she heard a slight shuffle and her eyes snapped open. Someone was standing in the entrance but she couldn't see the face because the sun was directly behind him.

"Mileena?" The achingly familiar voice asked "It's me, Manak."

Relief surged through Mileena as she realised who it was but then she felt embarrased when she realised she was naked.

Just before she could respond, the vampire guard snapped his eyes open and he attacked Manak.

Manak made short work of him and rushed over to Mileena. "Are you ok? Are you hurt?"Manak asked with anxiety in his voice.

Mileena nodded, too relieved and happy to speak, just clinging to him with joy not caring anymore that she was naked with tears of joy streaming down her face.

"Come, we must leave and quickly before they discover we're gone" he said pulling back from their embrace and handing her a blankent to cover herself once she could stand properly.

Without a word they both ran to the paddock of horses and galloped away, back to the Chemboor tribe.

"What about the others?" Asked Mileena. "We can't save them, there are just to many of them" he answered." How are you alive when i saw you....you were....you were practically dead." Asked Mileena.

The colour left Manak's face" i have to tell you something."

Mileena looked over towards him and he continued "Dracula bit me and that's why i'm alive i have 3 days to drink human blood or else i die since i haven't consumed blood, i can travel in the sun."

Mileena didn't know what to say to that. "Apparently i can survive on animal blood but i need human blood to complete my transition" he continued, not meeting her eyes.

"There is something i need to tell you too"it was Mileena's turn to look away. "Last night, after Dracula knocked me out in our fight, i woke up and he....he..."Mileena couldn't continue too ashamed of what had been done to her.

Manak reached over and took her hand while the horses stopped "What happened? What did he do to you?" He asked wih concern and anger on his face.

Mileena began to cry, she couldn't bring herself to tell Manak what had happened but she had to, he has to know.

Swallowing her tears and calming down, she began to tell him " Last night he...he raped me" she finally said and she covered her face with her hands, crying.

Manak's face turned to stone in fury of what that vile creature had done to his girl. He embraced her and soothingly calmed her down.

Once she was ready they set off again. "I could have killed him in our fight but i am only a beta and i do not possess the strength or power that my father has so when we get back we must persuade my family to come and defeat the vampires once and for all." Mileena said.

"They will, especially after they discover what the demon has done to you" Manak responded.

And with that they continued on their journey only stopping to give the horses a break.
