A Hunter's Curse

Chapter 11: They arrive back

After two days of hard riding with a few short breaks for the horses to rest, they finally arrived at the Chemboor Tribe with the exhausted horses.

The tribe came out and started to worry and ask where the others were. Manak reassured them while Mileena went to meet The Chief.

Before entering The Chief's tepee she was greeted by her father who was glad to see her. "Father, you are back from your annual alpha meeting." She embraced him.

"Indeed i am and judging by your grim face, something serious has happened, tell me daughter."

Mileena could feel her father's alpha power extending out to her and as she was about to tell him about the happenings of the past few days, The Chief came out.

"Father, i need to tell you both about what's been going on." Said Mileena.

They all went into The Chief's tepee, Manak included and they began to talk of everything that had happened from the time they left till now.

They spoke of how Manak witnessed Mileena's transformation to the fight that had ensued upon their arrival at the Myaka tribe and finally ending with Mileena's disgrace and Manak's newly found curse all the while giving encouraging smiles to each other when the other one spoke.

Mileena's father was outraged at what had happened to his daughter, "How dare he touch a member of MY pack like that especially my own daughter, he must die, must pay for this disgrace" he shouted and his claws began to extend.

"Easy there old friend" spoke the chief in a soothing voice and the alpha's claws retracted but a fire burned in his eyes and it was scaring Manak.

"Now what shall we do with this young man?" Asked the chief, turning to Manak.

"I say kill him, you heard him, one drop of human blood and he would turn into scum like them, he would be too dangerous" stated Mileena's father coldly.

"Yes but he can also live off animals, he won't be dangerous if he has self control, i'll help him but please do not kill him, i beg of you!" pleaded Mileena and her father could see the desperate look in her eyes and softened a bit thinking of his dear wife and the love they share and that's when he knew what Manak could possibly be for Mileena...

After deciding that the only way to rid themselves from the vampires was by using the pack, Mileena, Manak and her father left The Chief's tepee and went to arrange a meeting with the pack, Mileena's family, that night.

"Mileena, you walk ahead, i need to talk to Manak about something" said Mileena's father.

Mileena was suspicious but she went along anyway. Making sure that she was fully out of earshot using his alpha power to be 100% sure, he finally turned to Manak.

"I believe my daughter has found her mate and i am talking to him now but if you so much as harm a human and do not live up to your promise of drinking animal blood, i will not hesitate to kill you, be you her mate or not, understand me?" He ended in a low growl.

If Manak was afraid, he did a good job of hiding it. "Yes sir, i will try not to harm anybody unless necessary." He promised.

"Good, now let's go and meet the pack." And they went on their way.

Mileena's mate? What was he talking about? Thought Manak, should i tell her about this? He thought better of it and let it go.

But indeed, he was Mileena's mate even if he didn't know it yet he was slowly falling in love with her and she with him.
