A Hunter's Curse

Chapter 12: The Pack

The meeting took place in a secluded area of the forest, away from the rest of the tribe, to avoid suspicion, the pack left the tribe in twos and threes under the pretence that they were gathering firewood for the fire, there were only 15 in the pack in total, including Mileena and her dad, so it was a good cover up for their meeting.

"A great crime has been commited against one of our own and we must take revenge for this abomination that has befallen our tribe." Said the alpha, with his powerful voice resonating through his pack assembled before him.

"As you all know Mileena and a few of our tribe members were chosen to accompany the band of Myaka warriors on a mission to rescue their tribe from the perils of the vermin we call vampires." The alpha spat on the ground at the word vampires.

"Only Mileena and this Myaka, Manak has returned, the others were either killed or taken prisoner, waiting in line for their turn to be the evening meal."

He looked around at the horrified faces of the others and continued", But that is not the worst, the leader Dracula has done a sinful thing and he must pay!"

His eyes blazed as he told the rest of the pack what had happened to Mileena in the bloodstained arms of the villan Dracula while Mileena herself hid her face in shame in Manak's comforting arms.

After their alpha had spoken, the pack wanted to march to the Myaka tribe and get rid of the vermin right then and Mileena knew that once riled up, the pack could be unstoppable but they couldn't just charge in there, they had to have a plan and get permission from The Chief.

Walking back to the tribe with wood in her arms and Manak by her side, Mileena replayed the entire meeting through her mind. He didn't mention anything about Manak's curse thought Mileena as she glanced up to see Manak's face but he was lost in his own bubble of thought.

The only reason your father never said anything about it was because he knew the pack would tear him to shreds if he did mention it, he is protecting Manak for a good cause. Said a little voice in her head and she began to wonder what might her father's reason be to protect Manak.

Oh well, i'm too tired to find out now and besides we have bigger problems then that and i need sleep because tomorrow we leave for the Myaka tribe. She thought to herself.

She may be planning on sleep but she knew her pack were too anxious and just couldn't wait to leave and ravage the vampires plaguing the myaka tribe and she knew that half of them wouldn't even sleep due to all the excited energy coursing through their veins.

She bid goodnight to Manak as she reached her tepee but as she turned to enter he grabbed her wrist, spun her around and he kissed her. He stepped back after a while and they were both shocked at what he had done and stared at each other for a few seconds. Finally, without a word they turned around and went in their different directions with smiles on both their faces at what had just transpired between them.
