Chapter 7: The Final Leg of The Journey

The big day arrived and Mileena awoke with a start, the whole night she had been plagued with nightmares about the vampires chasing her, biting her and then tearing her limb from limb.

She looked down at her body and saw she was coated in sweat and bloodstains were visible on her blanket.

I must have been so scared that i managed to change my nails into claws in my sleep.

She was nervous about today, she was only a beta and she had never taken on a beast like this before.What if she killed an innocent person...what if she herself was killed. Then she would be a failure to her family, tribe and most of all Manak.

No i cannot and must not fail Manak.

She started to pack her things, she'll worry about her bloodstained blanket later, and went out for breakfast.

When she got there, everyone was quiet and wrapped up in their own thoughts with solemn and worried looks on their faces. Nobody ate much due to their nervousness.

After breakfast everyone gathered their possessions and the stakes that they had been making the night before and continued on their final leg of the journey.

Riding up to Manak, mileena noticed how quiet and serious he had become overnight. When he caught her looking at him, he gave her a small smile to show her that everything will be alright.

As minutes turned to hours and it turned to late afternoon, they noticed a set of tepees in the distance and as they got nearer they saw it was a tribe.

Manak stopped suddenly and everyone followed suit. "We're here" he finally said, his voice sounding hoarse. "Everybody get your weapons ready, today we fight!"

They slowly approached the tribe site and dismounted from their horses wih weapons drawn.

The tribe's tepees were all deserted and there were bloodstains and hints of fights all over the place. The tribe's horses were still in their paddock but they all looked scared.

They crept along with caution approaching a massive tepee Manak informed them as the tribe's meeting place.

The entryway to the tepee was dark and nobody could see into the thick, unusual darkness and suddenly a pair of glowing red eyes shone through staring at them and Mileena's heart nearly stopped.
