Chapter 7

I wake up with a short scream. Another nightmare. Another sleepless night and another thing I hate about my life. I sigh and sit up with my legs hanging off the side of the bed. There's no point me trying to even go back asleep, I look over at my clock and it tells me that's 4.13 in the morning. Of course, it is. Another sigh escapes my mouth. I decide to go to get a drink from the kitchen. On my way there I hear the loud cries of Camryn and Todd's soft voice trying to put her back to sleep. The only noise in the house is the peaceful tick of the clock and the running water that's coming from the tap. I grab a glass and fill it with the cold water. I put the cup to my dry lips and take a big gulp of water in the hopes to refresh myself. I take a seat on the counter top and rest my head on the wall cabinet and take long, deep breaths. The little noise coming from the house is enough to make me feel more at peace. I hear footsteps coming into the kitchen and I sigh from annoyance.

"Can't sleep huh?" Todd asks.

"Nope. Yet another nightmare of Mom and Dad keeping me awake." I tell him with a sad look on my face.

"Ye I noticed that. Maybe I can get you an appointment with the doctor see if he can give you something?" He suggests to me.

"No. I'm not a weirdo I don't need some pills to make me sleep. They'll go."

"If you say so. But please tell me if they don't go."

"Ye, sure. Whatever."

"So I got a call the other day from a solicitor."

"Oh great! My favorite people," I say sarcastically, "What did they want?"

"So it turns out that Dad did leave a will." He says with a nervous look on his face.

"What? What do you mean they said he didn't, how could this happen oh my go-" I get cut off mid-sentence.

"Abbie, chill we'll talk about this tomorrow over breakfast okay?" He asks me.

"What! You expect me to sleep while you just pilled this news on me? And eat breakfast with you?" I ask him with an annoyed look on my face.

"Yes! This isn't something that you speak loosely about."

"Arghh fine!"

"Good now I'm going back to bed, I'll see you in the morning." He says and then leaves to go back to sleep.

There's not even a chance for me to fall asleep now so I decide to go to 'star stoppers' and chill there and speak to mom and dad. I put my shoes and jumper on, put my phone in my pocket and leave a note for Todd and Emma telling them where I've gone. I leave the house and make my way to the 'star stoppers' I'm halfway across the street when I hear someone call my name from the distance, I look back and see Jesse running in my direction.

"Morning jog?" I ask with a little giggle. Wait did I just giggle? Oh god, what does this boy make me do?

"Haha very funny. No, I just wanted to see if you were okay," He says

"If I was okay?" I ask trying to think back then remembering "Oh yes, that."

"Ye that."

"I'm fine honestly I was just having a bad day," I say awkwardly looking down at the ground,

"Okay if you say so. Anyway, what are you doing out so early?"

"I couldn't sleep so I decided to go to star- um I mean I just decided to go for a walk," I say with a nervous laugh at the end.

"Are you always like this in the morning?" He says with a laugh at the end.

"Like what?" I ask with my eyebrows risen,
