Did he just say, neighbour? I swear he said, neighbour.
"Excuse me did you just say, neighbour?" I ask hoping he would say no.
"Sure did," he answers smirking.
"Well welcome to the neighborhood I guess," I say, shyly looking down at the floor.
"Thanks. So I guess I'll be seeing you around a whole lot more."
"Yeah probably. Well, I'm just gonna, you know, leave now." I say slowly walking out of the room. That was a very awkward conversation.
"Food will be ready at six and it's four now so don't be late," Todd tells me.
"Yes, whatever," I mutter back to him from the hallway. It's not like he cares anyway, he didn't choose for me to live with him. I go to the front door to grab my archery things since that's where I left them from the other night. I swing the arrow bag on my back and the bow on my shoulder. I'm about to leave when I realize my phone's on the counter in the kitchen, I curse and head back to grab it.
"Sorry just forgot my phone," I say not wanting to get in the way of them.
"Hey there Katniss. I thought Halloween wasn't for a few more months," he says joking.
"Haha funny," I say sarcastically he's about to talk again but I cut him off.
"I'll see you later." I walk out of the house whilst putting my earphones in and listen to birdy.
To get to my place the walk takes about 15 minutes, you have to go on this path in the middle of the trees I like running my fingers through the branches so I really feel the outdoors. You then pass this pretty little lake that's full of lily pads and dragonflies. Then you walk just a little bit further and you're there. It's a really beautiful place, it's very special to me. It's a field that's on a tilt a little it's full of wildflowers like daisies, dog violet and lots more. The one thing that really catches my attention is the tree right in the middle of the field. It's a very old tree and the branches look like they were stuck in time whilst dancing. The way the branches work together as if it was just supposed to be. I walk over to the tree and just sit there for a good hour thinking about things. Like how it'll be with Jesse now living next door. I haven't really had time to think about him. He is a very attractive boy. With silky blond hair that's laid on his head messily, I think he aims for the 'I just woke up and my hair was like this' look but he definitely rocks it. Then his beautiful blue eyes that I could look into all day if I could. Then there's his- wait, Abigail what are you doing? Stop thinking about him. He's not into you like that and you definitely don't need to bring a boy into your messed up life. I convince myself not to get involved with Jesse. It won't end well. Okay, enough with the thinking.
I get up and walk over to the entrance of the field behind some bushes is the target I like to keep. I set it up and start shooting some arrows. I don't know how long it's been but the sun is starting to set and then I realize food is ready at six. I check my phone for the time and see that it's 6:50. I curse under my breath. I quickly pack away all my things and start running back to the house. I run in and I can hear dishes clinking together.
"I'm home! Sorry I'm late again I lost track o-" I say whilst walking into the kitchen but stop when I see who was doing the dishes.
"I swear you said you were moving in next door not here," I mutter under my breath. I'm walking over the table when something slaps me behind my head. I turn around.
"You're late again. You missed food but I kept some for you, it's in the oven. How many times is this now that you've been late?" He says, sighing.
"You know what I'm like when I'm at my place Todd I lose all sense of the world it's just me and mom and dad. How I like it. Just us." I tell him whilst glaring at him.
"What's this place you're talking about?" Jesse asks from the sink where he's doing the dishes. I forgot he was even in the room, I need to be more careful when talking about my parents around people.
"None of your business," I say quietly.
"She doesn't like to tell many people only Emma and I know what it is," Todd informs him.
"Yeah and that's because you had to know. It's not like I actually wanted to tell you." I huff under my breath,
"And there's no point you asking again because no one is gonna tell you."
Todd smacks me on the head again I shot him a glare. I hear him mumble something like 'be nice'.
"I'm just gonna take my food upstairs and finish some homework and hit the hay early," I ask/tell him.
"Yeah, sure sis you do that." he says whilst pulling me and for a hug.
"I love you, remember that. You're not alone here A." He tells me calling me A he hasn't called me that since he left home.
"I wish I could say the same. But I can't since you left." I say walking away from his open arms,
"I think I should get going. Feel like I'm interrupting a personal moment here. Thanks for the food Todd." He says with a smile, awkwardly leaving the room rubbing the back of his neck. I hear the front door close shut.
"I'll be upstairs," I say. Taking my plate of food I make my way upstairs. Opening my bedroom door I lay my food on my bedside table and basically collapse on my bed. It's been a long day, first, with Stacy, I probably have a bruise on my side as well. Then Jesse too many things to process in one day. I decide to take a long hot bath and read a book. After that, I climb into bed and slowly drift to sleep hoping for a good night sleep.
