"Now, Vincent, remember what I told you." Chaos looked down at the man in the space suit. "I hate repeating instructions. It's extremely awkward."

Vincent nodded. "I've got it. Don't worry, I'll find him."

"Good," said the purple skeleton, and he snapped his boney fingers.

In a split second, Vincent arrived in the middle of a dark alleyway in a city he didn't recognize. In front of him was a parked car, and behind him were voices.

Vincent turned around to find a scarecrow wearing a sprayed-on tuxedo and a Monopoly money tie talking to two almost identical seven foot tall scarecrows. "We will get it back," said the one with the Monopoly money tie. "No matter what it takes."

Vincent cleared his throat. "Hello. Thorn? Is that you?"

The scarecrow swiveled around. "Who's asking?"

"Vincent," said Vincent. "Me. But I come on someone else's orders. Chaos sends his regards, and an invitation to join his squad."

"His squad?"

"That's what he calls it, but it's more like an elite league of assassins."

Thorn hesitated. "Would I be able to enact revenge on those who go by Preston, Camellia, and Chaps?"

Vincent raised his eyebrows. "Wow. Those are some of the exact names on the hit list. So . . . yes."

Thorn grinned, his smile ripping through his face. "I don't care who Chaos is, or that he calls his team of assassins his 'squad'. If I can go after those three, I'm in."
