It was a slow journey back to Earth. Chaps had ended up stopping at an intergalactic gas station twice. The first time, to fuel up the ship, the second time, to 'buy one of those spectacular dill pickle flavored bags of potato chips'. At least now, the planet was in sight.
Chaps was focused on the stars in front of him. Occasionally he would make comments about them, and Joe would chime in with a useless fact. They really were quite the duo, Camellia thought. Annoying, but a little endearing at the same time. Not that she would ever admit it.
On the other side of the room, Preston glanced over at Catricia. "So, Catricia," he said.
She looked over at him with her wide eyes. "Yes?"
"Do you, uh . . . have a boyfriend?"
Catricia smiled. "Yes. Chaps!"
Preston almost fell out of his seat, and Camellia slowly looked over in horror.
Catricia tilted her head slightly. "What? He's my friend and he is a 'boy'. Joe is my second boyfriend."
"Ah," said Preston, still clearly trying to regain his composure. "Well, that's not what I meant."
"What did you mean?"
"Um, forget it."
"Okay!" Catricia stared off into space for a moment. "What were we talking about again?"
Camellia looked out the window and wished time would stop being so slow.
