Chapter 16

Gina 

"No way.  I can't Ash" I reasoned anxiously sitting down on the edge of her bed.

"Why not? Tomorrow is Friday and then we will be free for an entire week. He wants you there" She begged sitting down next to me while I fidgeted with my fingers nervously.

"I can't just go to Seattle with you guys. It's like I'd be an intruder or something" I replied waving my hands in the air.

"But you won't.  He needs you there. You know how many times he has been one click away from canceling his flight? But you keep him from doing that every single time. He trusts you enough to talk to you about his mom. He doesn't even talk to me about her and I'm sure he'd like to talk to you when he freaks out 100 times a day while in Seattle" She tried to convince me into accepting Ej's offer.

"Ash" I whined childishly glancing at her.

"I'm not going Gina" Ash admitted desperately. "And I don't want him going through it alone" She finished as I stared at her in shock.

"You're not?" I asked hesitantly and she nodded in confirmation.

"My parents planned this last minute family vacay and it's been a while since we've had one and I wanna go but I won't if you don't go to Seattle with Ej. I can't abandon my cousin if I know you won't be there to help him. So please please please go to Seattle with him" She begged me grabbing my hands in hers pleadingly.

" Because I haven't spend more than 12 hours with both my parents in the last 5 years and I need this too" She continued with a sad smile making my heart ache for her.

"Fine. I'll go to Seattle" I sighed as she squealed excitedly crushing me into a hug.

"Thank you thank you thank you thank you" She thanked me repeatedly as I reciprocated the hug.

" I can't believe I'm meeting Ej's mom and you won't be there" I grunted anxiously covering my face with my hands in disbelief.

"You'll be fine. She already loves you. I promise" She reassured and I gave her a side glare.

"oh shut up and pack for Cabos" I replied sassily.

"wait how do you know where I'm going?" She asked in bewilderment.

"Because I live with you and your parents are really loud" I chuckled as she laughed understandingly.

"Fair enough. Now it is time for you to pack for Seattle" she smirked. "Yay me!" I said sarcastically.

2 days later

"Thank you for doing this for me" Ej gratefully thanked me as we walked through the airport with our carry on.

"You're the one who bought me a ticket, I should be thanking you for taking me to Seattle Grace Hospital" I teased as we took a sit to wait for our flight.

"Yes yeah McDreamy should be waiting for you once our flight lands in Seattle" He joked and I smiled.

"If only..." I sighed dreamily making Ej chuckle.

"All jokes aside. I am glad you're here. So thank you" He smile gratefully "Of course" I replied with a smile of my own.

"And I know you're a little nervous about meeting my mom but she is pretty chill" He adds trying to ease my nerves.

"Yeah?" I asked nervously and he laughed "Yes and she loves everyone but my father so don't worry" he joked lightly and I smiled.

"How do you feel?" I asked leaning against my chair comfortably.

"Unsure. I feel like once I see her new place, it will all become real. Like she really is moving on and that nothing will ever be the same ever again" He admitted sighing sadly.

"Change is inevitable but growth is optional. It just depends on how you choose to see it" I smiled rubbing his back gently and he smiled nodding. "You're right. My parents are moving on, so should I" He concluded with a frown.

"You are entitled to feel whatever it is you feel. No one can take that from you. Remember that Eej" I whispered softly.

"What would I do without you Gina Porter?" He sassed with a small grin playing on his lips.

"Be miserable" I teased nudging him shoulder.

"Sounds about right" He laughed.

As we waited for our flight, we made light conversation, talking about rehearsals and Ash finally going on a family trip. Part of me knew Ej yearned to have that dream vacay with his own family but I knew that part of him was also very happy for her. 

Family over everything right?...

I guess it just sucks when there is no family to cling to.
