"I hope this won't be awkward. I know Ej is your family and I don't want to cause a rift between you two in any way" I tell Ash as she sits at the edge of my bed while I unplug my phone from its charger.

"Oh don't be ridiculous. Of course not. It's just a lot to process" She responds as I give her a sad smile.

"I know. A lot is going on right now and I can't drag Ej through this. He is dealing with a lot too and that's just not fair to him. I won't do it. I want him there for me but that's selfish and I can't be selfish, not when it comes to him"  I tell her in all honestly scrolling through my phone seeing a couple unread messages from Jaime.

"Umm... Ash why don't go ahead and save me a seat for breakfast huh?" I tear my gaze away from my phone and I look at her with a soft smile.

"Yeah, okay. I'll need to swing by Sofia's cabin anyways. So, I'll meet you there roomie" She replies looking down at me as she stands up and looking down at her phone as it start playing a soft tune.

"Hey Sof! Yeah, I'm on my way right now." She says though her phone and I clench my jaw angrily at the faint sound of her voice.

Ash gives me once last glance and a soft smile before walking out. I type out a quick reply to Jaime, while making a mental note to call him later.

I take a solid minute before having enough courage to walk out my cabin. Now, my mission is to avoid Ej at all cost.

"Well hello friend" I hear Jack's voice tease from behind me as I roll my eyes lightly while looking over my shoulder.

"Hey Jack" I greeted as he offers me a small smile. As I take in his appearance, I notice him carrying a duffel bag and raised my eyebrows puzzledly at him.

"You going somewhere?" I ask him crossing my arms across my chest as he shrugs lazily.

"I'm getting outta here. I'm sorry, but all of this is lame. Plus, my girl is picking me up" He winks at me as I laugh lightly at his comment.

"Can your girl give me a lift too?" I teased as he lets out a light chuckle. "I'm sure she would be more than happy if you ask" He replies as I give him a small smile.

"I'm teasing, unlike you, I am actually stuck here for good for the next 3 weeks" I tell him as he fakes a small frown.

"Too bad, I actually wanted to be your prince charming" He jokes as I roll my eyes at him playfully.

"And be your damsel in distress, no thank you." I laugh as I notice a black Toyota Camry pull over in the far distance.

"But I think your prince charming has come to your rescue" I point towards the car as the tinted window roll down to reveal a stunning blonde in the driver's seat.

"And that's my cue to escape, cover for me until I'm gone?" He asks me looking towards the main lounge.

"I'll stall them and you can make your grand escape" I assure him as he gives me a thankful smile as he comes to give me a hug.

I hesitate simply by being startled at his gesture. We are not very affectionate people. One of the very few thing we have in common.

"Take care of yourself, alright? And I'm sorry about Ej" He mumbles softly in my ear as he pulls away.

I stare at him slightly baffled by his emphatic gesture and give him a weak smile. "thanks, and don't do anything too stupid" I tease him as he gives me a sly smirk.

"No promises" He taunts back already walking away from me. I wait for them to pull out of the camp before sighing softly, and walking towards the lounge.
