Chapter 42

Gina

I haven't even gotten the chance to pull Ej aside after our meeting with Miss Jen because Sofia has been glued to his side which only irritates me even more. It's probably for the best that I don't talk to Ej right now or else I might just make it worse.

"All by yourself? I thought you were the it girl of your drama club" I could hear Jet tease from behind me.

"Definitely not the it girl" I chuckle turning around to face him. "Well I've been wrong before" He jokes shrugging his shoulder lazily as I give an soft smile.

"So do you guys always do this bonfire ritual thing?" I asked looking over at a wooden table with marshmallows, chocolates and crackers laid out neatly in a row.

"Every Saturday" He corrects me as I nod my head. "It's cool I guess" I reply as he chuckles.

"That's when the real drama starts" He whispers in my ear. "Really?" I expressed in surprise.

"I usually just like to stand by and observe everything unfold" He explains leaning away from me slightly as I nod my head.

"I should learn to do that more" I joke with a light chuckle as he offers me a genuine laugh.

"Oh Jet! Look at you talking to more people. I'm proud" I could hear Val compliment encouragingly looking me over with a slightly irritated  expression.

"Even if you're choice of company is slightly questionable" She adds with a sickening sweet smile plastered on her face.

"Funny, I was just about to say the same thing" I snapped back narrowing my eyes at her ever so slightly as she giggles. "I'm just kidding Gina. It's a joke, obviously" She lies playfully embracing me before letting go short after.

"Bonfire starts in one hour. Don't be late!" she announces as she winks at us before walking away.

"Isn't there like a secret escape route I could take out of this camp?" I express irritated as Jet shrugged.

"Trust me I've tried every nook and crook in this place and I have yet to find. But I'll let you know if I do" He tells me as I laugh "I beg please do" I tell him as grins at me.

"So, what school do you go to?" He asks me as we sit down on a rustic camp bench. "Oh East High" I tell him as his eyes widen.

"No way! Isn't that the high school that was used for the filming of the high school musical franchise?" He perks in excitement.

"It is indeed. We actually did a musical of the movie last spring" I tell him as he laughs in disbelief.

"Wow that's crazy! So, all of you are in high school?" He asks referring to the group in general.

"Well, everyone except my boyfriend. He just finished his freshman year at a university not too far from our area" I tell him as he nods his head. "So you have a boyfriend huh?" He says out loud as I turned my head to look at him due to his tone.

"Ah yeah yeah I do" I confirm as he frowns slightly before looking up at me. 

"Well I guess I'm late yet again" He tells me in a disappointing gaze as I cleared my throat awkwardly.

"I-I don't know what to say to that" I laugh nervously fidgeting with my hands.

"Nothing. He is a lucky guy" He replies with a forced chuckle.

"I'd like to think so" I joked to try and ease the tension between us.

"So you're boyfriend is Ricky right?" He asks me making my choke on my own spit.

He gently rubs my back in concern as I cough uncontrollably with watery eyes.

"You good?" He asks me trying to get a full glance at my face for confirmation.

"Ye-ep I-I'm good, I just choked on my own spit" I explain clearing my throat several times before speaking again.

"Ricky is not my boyfriend, he's just a friend" I clarified quickly as he gives me a soft "oh."

"Ej is the guy I'm dating" I tell him as he chuckles to himself. "Green eyes?" He lets out as I furrow my eyes in confusion.

"What?" I laugh in bewilderment. "Oh I'm sorry, that's just my nickname for him" He explains as I smile at his comment.

"Well it's true, he does have green eyes I guess" I laugh as he chuckles.

"GIGI!" I could hear Ash faintly call after me waving for me to go over to her. 

"Uh- I gotta go. See you at the bonfire?" I tell him standing up as he follows after me.

"I'll be there" He smiles down at me. "Oh, and uh bring some blankets, it gets really cold" He advices as I smile gratefully at him.

"Noted, thank you. See ya later Jet" I bid goodbye as he waves at me while I jog down the dirt path.

"Hey" I greeted Ash as she smiles at me. "Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you" She tells me looking out into the distance to catch of glimpse of Jet walking down the same path I was just on.

"Oh, talking to Jet" I shrugged indifferently as he raises an eyebrow in shock.

"You two are friends now?" She asked looking up at me for more details. "Yeah he sorta kept me from falling on my ass earlier and now we are friend-ish" I tell her as she laughs lightly.

"Falling? When?" She perks in curiosity. "When your friend pushed me aside" I remind her as Ash pouts.

"She didn't push you" She giggles at what I said and I narrow my eyes at her. 

"Oh she definitely did, you were just too excited hugging your friend to notice" I challenged.

"Ok fine maybe she did it unintentionally" She compromises as I shrugged with a "maybe."

"Where is Ej?" I asked  looking for him as Ash grimaces. "He just left a few minutes ago to let Sofia unload her luggage  from her car" She tells me as I nod my head.

"Great. Well I'm going back to my room and taking a shower. So, I'll see you in a little bit" I tell her giving her a soft embrace as she pulls me back. "Gigi are you okay?" She asks me softly as I smile.

"Yeah I'm fine. My mom texted me earlier and her message threw me off" I admit looking down at my phone screen.

A picture of Ej sloppily kissing my cheek greets me as the bright light faces me. I smile softly at my screensaver before looking back up at Ash.

"And I wanted to talk to Ej about it, but I guess that will have to wait a little longer" I finish with a sad smile as she frowns at me.

"I'm always here if you need to talk" She reminds me squeezing my hand.

"I know you are, thank you roomie" I replied as she wraps her around me and pulls me close to her.

"Ok, I'll let you go, and also take to the chance to check in on Sofia" Ash tells me pulling away from me.

"Ok" I murmured walking towards our sleeping quarters in a slight frown on my face.

Is it possible that I could loose both my boyfriend and best friend?
