Miami, Florida

I woke up feeling a numb pain in the joint between my biceps and my shoulders. There was an insane tingling feeling that started at my fingertips and traveled all the way down to my elbows.

Still slightly discombobulated, I opened my eyes to look around the room. Pepper, Maya, or Killian was nowhere to be seen. The last I remember we were both dragged out of our hotel room, Killian holding a gun to the back of my head.

Recalling the moment triggered a blunt pain in the back of my head, that throbbed. Shit, Killian must've knocked me out, I assumed, which wasn't too ridiculous to think.

I tried to touch the back of my head to see if there was any serious damage, however as my body tried to execute the maneuver, my arm wouldn't move. I looked up only to see my hands tied above my head, each wrist zip-tied to the corner of a metal bed frame.

"Fuck..." I cursed under my breath. Here was no way out of here. I dropped my head down in defeat, a cold sensation against my chin. My head instantly shot up again.

"Jarvis!" I exclaimed in relief. He was maybe my only way out of here, "Has Tony's suit recharged yet?"

"Not fully I'm afraid," JARVIS's voice boomed from the necklace.

"Okay..." I replied deep in thought. If I was going to get out of here and save Pepper I needed someone else to come and help me.

"Is there any way you could locate Rhodes?" I asked him.

"Lieutenant Colonel Rhodes's armor as been located, Sarge. It's actually less than 400 yards away...in this very building."

I breathed a sigh of relief. Rhodes was nearby and possibly able to help me out of here so I could rescue Pepper.

"Call him please," I asked JARVIS and he did as he was told. The room was silent as I awaited a response from the Colonel.

The call connected but there was barely an audible noise on the other end of the call. I strained trying to catch some sort of sound, but all I could hear was muffled grunting.

"Rhodes?" I whispered, but the line stayed silent for a while.

"Y/N? How...are you in my suit?" He groaned like he was in pain.

"It's a long story. But are you okay, you sound hurt?" I asked him.

"Not really. The temperature in here is hotter than usual," he remarked which confused me slightly.

"Hotter than usual? I need your help, Rhodes are you able to do that? Jarvis told me you're less than 400 yards away and the Mandarin has me strapped to a metal bed frame," I briefly exclaimed.

"Do you think you can give me a minute?" He asked as a beeping noise started going off in the background. I chose not to question him as he began chanting to himself, "Do not open. Do not open. Don't open. Don't open... All right, let's go!"

I sighed not knowing what the fuck was going on. Rhodes was no longer responding to me and I was left tied up to this bed frame for another few minutes. Soon, however, the door in the corner of my room was kicked down, revealing Rhodes holding up a gun in defense.

"Oh my God," I breathed out in relief, "What the hell was going on?" I asked while Rhodey began untying my wrists.

"Well greasy-hair guy just blew fire outta his mouth and the bald guy took my suit," he said bluntly.

"Greasy-hair and a bald guy?" I repeated back to him and he nodded.

"Did I also forget to mention that they breathe fire?" He added which switched me on completely.
