"And from the red corner, we have Shu Kurenai!"

Shu stepped out into the stadium, staring at the sea of people looking down at him.

They had their eyes looking down at the entire arena, and the only person saying anything was the announcer, Gunta Hanami.

Shu felt a nervous fluttery feeling swarm in his stomach and had the urge go back, even if he couldn't actually back down. It was his first time and he had already reached the finals, trying for a quick kill.

"In the blue corner, we have the undefeated champion - Lui Shirasagijo!"

A male with fiery blue hair stepped into the arena, with his arms crossed and a confident smirk on his face.

Upon seeing his opponent, Shu's previous thoughts about backing down disappeared, and he walked towards the stadium, determined to beat Lui swiftly.

Spriggan was launched into the stadium, with Longinus on the other end.

"It spins counter-clockwise?" Shu had never seen a left-spin bey before- he thought most if not all beys spin clockwise.

  "Spriggan!" Shu yelled.

The crimson bey shot towards Longinus, leaving scarlet sparks in its wake as it threatened to land a good hit on one of Longinus' weak spots.

However, Lui didn't even try to make his bey dodge Spriggan's attack- he decided to clash with Spriggan instead.

Lui's expression morphed from a smirk to a cold sneer as Spriggan and Longinus were about to hit each other.

The two beys hit, with bright sparks in hues of icy blue and deep red flying. The metallic sound of the beys drowned out the audience's shouts and crys, and both bladers had their eyes on the prize.

Lui gazed at Shu with merciless look and smirked.

  "Longinus. Finish it!"

Longinus sent Spriggan flying out of the stadium and sent hurling towards Shu's face.

The albino had no time to react in the few seconds he had as he stared at his bey flying towards him in shock, unable to move.

Spriggan slashed Shu's face, and the sharp metal cut a long gash almost directly on Shu's eye.

Shu stumbled to the ground, clutching the right side of his face. Blood was dripping quickly out of his wound, like rubies falling out of Shu's crimson eyes.

Sharp spikes of pain were growing more and more excruciating by the second, as if he were getting stabbed in the face with a knife repeatedly.

"You.." Shu grimaced, tempted to attack Lui right then and there.

Lui laughed menacingly as he sneered, his fiery hair growing wilder.

"It's too bad, Shu Kurenai. You've already lost!"

Shu wasn't going to let that happen again. No. Never.

His famous scar is proof of the intense battle he had with Lui, and had shown how much he had grown from it, how much he had come.

He had been scarred emotionally and physically, but that didn't matter- they were proof that he had gone through a fight with Lui and was a person worthy of battle

As he stepped out into the arena, the audience fixated their eyes on him, just like last year.

And as Lui stepped out with the same smirk, Shu clutched Spriggan tightly, feeling a familar fluttery feeling, his mind telling him that he was being foolish and something would be bound to go wrong.

  Just like last year.

Except... the white-haired boy had already decided his fate.

HE would be the one to win.
