SONG: Peaceful Easy Feeling by Eagles

_____

'I hope you had a nice evening,' Jeremy told Ida. They were parked a block away from her house because Ida knew her parents were standing by the living room window and waiting for her to get home.

'I did,' she replied and smiled. The date wasn't anything overly fancy. They bought some ice cream and then went to sit by the lake and stargaze. It was very cold outside but Jeremy brought a big heavy blanket that they cuddled underneath. 'Not gonna lie, this was my first ever date so I don't really have anything to compare it to.'

Jeremy grinned. 'Well, I'm glad I was the first. I think I set the bar pretty high for anyone else that comes after me.' He leaned closer to her, putting a hand on her cheek. 'But I hope no one new will be coming for a while.'

'If you keep going like this, there will be no need for anyone new to come,' Ida said and then closed the space in between them.

This kiss was longer and more intense than the one on Christmas - Jeremy was a really good kisser, like, really good. He pulled her closer and lowered the hand that was on her cheek to her waist, gripping her sweater lightly. Ida's eyes fluttered closed and she wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss.

They sat like that, making out for a few minutes until Jeremy pulled away. 'I should probably get you home. Your dad made it pretty clear that I should bring you home at ten.'

'Yea,' Ida said. 'I wouldn't want your head on the wall like a deer.'

'Why? You don't think it would look good?' Jeremy replied, turning his head side to side and making faces.

She shook her head. 'No, I think you'd make a better rug.'

He laughed and then looked deep into her eyes. 'Do you wanna make it official or do we just fool around?'

Did he just ask me to go steady? Ida thought. Man, he has such pretty eyes... wait, what did he ask me again? Oh, right. Relationship or fooling around. She nodded, feeling her cheeks heat up. 'Yes.'

'Is that a yes for you being my girlfriend or yes for fooling around?' He asked her, amused by her getting flustered.

'Fooling around with you as your girlfriend,' she answered and then grabbed his face, pulling him into another kiss. 'I should go now. I'm pretty sure my dad is counting seconds right now.'

'Yea,' Jeremy replied. 'I'll pull up in front of your house.' He started the car. 'What are you up to this weekend?'

Ida shrugged. 'We're going up to Jackie's ski cabin on Friday.'

'She the one who screams a lot?'

'Yep, that's the one. Fez has never seen snow so we're taking him up there to experience the American winter,' Ida said. 'We should be back on Sunday.'

Jeremy nodded. 'Alright. Don't drink too much.' Then he gave her a kiss goodbye. 'See you tomorrow.'

'See ya,' Ida replied and then got out of the car, giving him a small wave before skipping to her front door and ringing the doorbell because she forgot her keys.

Her mom opened the door with a smile on her face. 'So, how was it?'

Ida rolled her eyes but smiled as well, entering the house and closing the door. 'It was really fun.' She took off her jacket and set it on the coat hanger and then flicked off her shoes. 'We went stargazing and just talked.'

'Oh, stargazing,' her mom said. 'That's a boy who knows what he's doing.'

'He better be careful with what he's doing,' Mr. Jekyll called out from the living room where he was watching the TV.
