Slamming down the trunk of the car, Maximus strode forward to the back seat of the car and got in beside Ming. Ming turned to him, shooting him a reminder, "No cellphones once we get into Bernard's territory, we cannot risk the bomb behind us to explode before we get the children out."

The Corgis had worked all night making the bomb. It will need a cellphone call to trigger the bomb, and the bomb would explode like a grenade. It would certainly wipe out 40 plus men. They placed the finished bomb inside a metal case, which will prevent it from receiving any cellphone radiation, unless it is outside of the case.

The Bermuda and the Corgis also worked together the whole night and the next morning to dig the underground tunnel, where one man from each gang would crawl through and exit out from it to rescue the children. By then, a truck would come for the children, bringing them back to the Corgis palace before the bomb is let loose.

Ming hoped that this plan would follow through. It was dangerous, especially for her, Maximus and Abubakar. They would be in the front lines of the bomb, sitting across from Bernard to negotiate with him while the children were taken out back.

Ming glanced at Maximus, who was typing away in his phone. "Texting your wife?" She prodded, earning a nod from Max.

"And my kids."

"How old are they now? Must be older since I last saw them," Ming asked, chuckling as she remembered how delighted she had been when she played with Max's children.

Max sighed, shaking his head, "Well, Marie is 6 now, and Todd is 4. Why they grow up so fast." Max had to bite his lip to stop himself from crying.

Ming laughed, clapping Maximus on the shoulder. "Well well, they do grow fast," Ming sighed as well.

Max elbowed Ming, a teasing smile played on his lips, "How about you? Not gonna call Evangelia?"

Ming's head snapped towards Maximus in response, receiving a haughty laugh from him. "How do you know about Eva? Have you been spying on your own men?" Ming asked exasperatedly.

"Well, not exactly. I just happen to know you have a girlfriend-"

"But we've only been going out two weeks!" Ming abruptly interrupted.

Max gave her an apologetic smile, in a low voice, he said, "Well Ming, you know us. We just wanna make sure nobody's out there to hurt our family. Call it, looking out for each other."

Ming rolled her eyes, she huffed, "So, what did you find on her?"

Beside her, Maximus gave a light shrug. "Eh, nothing much luv'. She's seems like an average kid, does well academically, no siblings," Maximus droned.

Ming breathed a sigh of relief, but Max continued.

"And you know luv', I won't stop you from dating her. Our gang has no objections to dating and marrying outsiders, do forgive us if we did a background check without you knowing. Your mother was an outsider, and my father did background checks on her too."

"What else did your father do huh?" Ming asked sarcastically.

Max smirked, "He'd ask your dad to be careful."

Ming cocked an eyebrow, "So you gonna give me the same advice?"

"Yes."

"So who gave you that advice when you married your wife?" Ming teased, earning a chuckle from Max.

"My father did. He told me to 'be careful son'," Max said, imitating his dad's voice. This caused the two to let a out a hoot of laughter.

Ming's heart warmed, it has been a while since she had a laugh with Maximus. For a moment, she let Evangelia slip from her mind.
