Vigorous knocks at the door woke Ming up from her slumber. Groaning at the disturbance, Ming inched herself slowly up into sitting position. She blinked the sleep away from her eyes, her hand holding her abdomen, rubbing at its soreness.
Ming's eyes flicked towards her right, her breath catching as she saw Eva sleeping there. Letting that breath go, she felt glad that Eva didn't leave when told to, but guilt stabbed her gut. She had to apologise later on.
The knocking at the door still hadn't quietened down. Frustrated, Ming got up weakly, and hobbled to the door. Prying it open, she caught the sight of José mid-knock.
In a hushed scream, so she didn't wake Eva up, she exclaimed, "What's all the racking for? I'm trying to rest here!"
José let out a sheepish grin, "Sorry Ma'am, I was asked to get you, we have a problem in Egypt."
Another one? Min thought to herself, before informing José, "I'll be there soon."
Ming grabbed her coat, bent down to give Evangelia a soft kiss, before she headed out of her room towards the meeting room.
Loud voices of tension and disagreements could be heard outside the meeting room, and as Ming entered, a stack of papers were swiped ragefully off the table.
"Woah, what the heck is going on?" Ming asked in surprise. Maximus was the one who swiped the papers off the table, and he looked up at Ming's entrance, yelping, "That bastard is still alive!"
This news shocked Ming, and she hurried over to the computer in front of Max, true enough, there was a picture of Bernard caught by a security camera outside a liquor shop. "Who sent this?" Ming asked, whipping her head towards Maximus.
"Corgis, they had word from an anonymous source that Bernard was sighted."
A frown formed on Ming, she pinched two fingers on her nose bridge, trying to stay calm. She felt like throwing a stack of papers off the table too, and now she understood why everyone was so mad.
"Ma'am?" Someone piped up from across the table. She looked up, her eyes meeting Liz. Liz gave her a sweet smile, before speaking, "The Corgis are calling, shall I put them on speaker?"
Ming gave her a nod, so she flashed the video call on the projector screen, and they waited for the call to be connected.
Abubakar and Abasi appeared on the screen, their faces in clear distress as well. They too, were shocked and in rage knowing of Bernard's living status. "Ming," Abubakar greeted solemnly, "I trust you have seen the photo."
"Yes I have, I am enraged. And confused as to how he can still be alive," Ming confessed.
Abasi nodded, pulling up a footage of the night of the bomb. The footage was grainy, and was of bad quality, it seemed to be one of Bernard's security cameras. However, it showed very clearly that Bernard escaped through some kind of secret back door, and ran towards a forest on his own.
Abasi cleared his throat after the footage ended, "I hacked into Bernard's home security cameras, and it seems he got out unscathed. Selfish man he is, he was on his own, meaning he left his own men to die inside his building."
"Where exactly is he right now?" Ming asked.
"He was last seen entering another forest in the Nile. There are no security cameras in a forest we have no exact pinpoint of where he is right now," Abasi answered.
Both gangs went silent, not really sure what to do now. An idea struck Ming, and she piped up, "Hey, thermal imaging."
All heads turned to Ming, and she looked at them in a 'duh' expression. Ming pointed at Abasi, informing him of her idea, "We can use a thermal imaging camera, attached it to a drone, fly it over the forest. Heat from Bernard's body will be detected through the camera."
