Slap.
Lillia stood there, bewildered by what she had just done. Shuu already took a step back, clutching at his cheek. When he took his hand away from it, it revealed a red mark with two lines of blood, presumably due to her nails when she slapped him. She gasped and was about to apologise, but she contemplated about what just happened before this. Why should she apologise? She was trying to defend herself from any kind of danger that Shuu is capable to impose of on her. Instead, she glared at him and Shuu gave her a look of surprise in return. But it wasn't for long. He let out a smirk and wiped the blood on his cheek. He then licked it and stared at her with his blue eyes. She couldn't understand why, whenever she looked into those eyes, she felt like she could suck into it and feel that she will do his bidding if she didn't get a grip of herself. Is it because he's a vampire?
She shook her head at this, ignoring that by now Shuu's looking at her with an amused smile on his face. "I don't believe you" she said, trying to keep her voice even. "Oh? And so the 'fangs' that I bared at you were fake and that woman just passed out on the street" Shuu replied sarcastically. "Why are you trying hard to convince me that you're a vampire? I thought you would already be walking away from me by now and saying 'Find out yourself'?" she asked, feeling brave by then. He then cocked his head from side to side, as if he just realised the truth behind her statement. Instead of agreeing with her, he gave her a mysterious smile that send shivers down her spine. "What that trash said intrigued me. Your blood smells delicious, even for a human. Actually, I felt that way from the first time you came here but it wasn't distinct, at first. When I think about it-" he walked towards her, alarming her. "Your blood seems to be at its peak when it's the full moon. Sure, most females',virgins especially, blood smell really delicious during the full moon. Yours, however-" he took another step, "smell too enticing and somehow erotic during the full moon".
She stared at him, processing his words. "What are you actually implying?" she asked dumbly. Shuu leaned on the wall beside her, as if he had given up 'scaring' her. He closed his eyes and Lillia waited for him to answer her question. "Did you know, the reason everyone come back late at the same time the news about the attacks started getting out of hand?" he said quietly, his eyes still closed. She kept quiet, afraid to answer him. Shuu took his cue to continue, "Your sweet scent, seem to agitate them, and due to that, they must satiate their hunger by attacking the women around this area".
"That's-" she started to say, but she was cut off by Shuu. "That's the reason why Reiji, Subaru and Kanato was called over by our father. The remaining ones - me, Ayato and Raito - will be here to protect you. Or so it seems" he finished darkly. "What do you mean by 'so it seems'?" she asked, causing Shuu to click his tongue. "The reason why we haven't attacked you is because we don't lose ourselves to our desires easily, but we are all still male vampires, and Raito has tried to put moves on you, right?" he said, opening his eyes to look at her. She nodded and he smirked. "Reiji's too obsessed with his potions, Kanato's always brooding with his teddy bear, Subaru's always locking himself up in his room and Ayato, he only hunts for beauties, so you're in safe hands" he said, giving her a mocking glance. "But Raito, on the other hand, as long as you have blood in your body, anything goes" he said, causing her to shiver in fright. "What about you?" she asked before thinking. He gave her a thoughtful look and smiled. "I'm too lazy to even try to raise a hand" Shuu answered.
"But you're explaining this to me" she said, staring at him. "I'm in a productive mood today, so it doesn't hurt to explain everything to you" he said, already walking away. "Wait!" she yelled after him, and to her surprise, Shuu stopped walking. "What about that man? Are there other vampires other than you in this area?" she asked, alarmed by the realisation as she said this. Shuu looked at her, then looked at the ground, as if trying to decide what to do. "Ever since my father, the head of the prominent Sakamaki clan, took you under his wings" he said, looking up at her slowly, "many vampires, the nobles and even the lower classes, became intrigued by you, the mysterious human girl with fiery red hair". Her heart started to pick up a fast pace as Shuu continued staring at her. "As I said, your blood is so enticing that the second a vampire took a whiff of it, they must do something to satiate that hunger" he finished, then yawned. "I've been talking too much than usual. I'm going to take a nap" he said, walking towards the stairs to go to his bedroom.
"Wait!" she yelled again and this time, Shuu clicked his tongue and looked at her irritatingly. "If the reason that the woman" she gestured at the woman she just 'saved', still unconscious and lying on the sofa, "got attacked was because of me, how am I able to make it not cause a trouble for women like her?" she asked and Shuu snickered. "No one cannot stop a vampire from wanting to feed on his main course, which is blood" he said, looking at her as if she was stupid. Instead of backing down, she clenched her jaw. "Please, there must be something that I am able to do" she begged, forgetting all her pride. Shuu looked at her, but it wasn't a look of scorn. Instead, he walked close to her, and this caused her to shake in fright.
He stopped walking when and leaned towards her, so she could feel his breath on her face. "There is one way" he said quietly. He then took off her glasses to reveal her soft green eyes and brushed her bangs away so that it could be seen clearly. He then grabbed her chin and before she realised it, he gave her a kiss. It wasn't a soft kiss or a brush of the lips; it was a rough kiss. She then pushed him away and proceeded to slap him, but unlike the first time, he got hold of her arm before her hand reached his face. "You said you were going to tell me how to solve the problem!" she yelled, enraged by his behaviour. "I am" he answered, making her frown. He let go of her arm, causing it to drop to her side. "The only way to keep the vampires from trying to get nearer to you, you must be a powerful vampire's 'property'. And considering I, Sakamaki Shuu, am the eldest of the Sakamaki clan, the most powerful vampire clan of the vampire world" he said, his eyes burning into hers, "I'm the best candidate yet".
"And so the kiss is somehow a contract between a vampire and his 'property', is that it?" she asked sarcastically, folding her arms. Shuu chuckled evilly and stared into her eyes. "No. That was a punishment for slapping me and leave a scar on my cheek" he replied darkly as he traced the scratch mark on his cheek that Lillia slapped a few moments ago. Lillia glared at him as he said this. This man is unbelievable! she thought angrily as she continued glaring at the smirking Shuu. "And after being a vampire's 'property'?" she asked, ignoring the amused glint in his eyes. "You will let me drink your blood, of course" he answered, making her gasp in surprise. "What, you expect me to not get anything out of this?" he asked incredulously upon looking at her shocked expression. She regained her composure and looked warily at the still unconscious woman on the sofa. Lillia let out a sigh and looked at Shuu. "Fine. I will be your 'property'" she said, trying to keep her bravado as she realised what she has just agreed to. Shuu slowly let out a smile and chuckled. "Well, go easy on me, my property" he said and licked his lips suggestively. Lillia gulped as he walked towards her, her heart beat quickening its pace at every step Shuu made.
Mother, forgive me, I can't find you just yet. I can't leave this alone. I don't want to inflict harm on others as what people have done to me. Those were her thoughts when Shuu, finally, was already in an arm's reach from her.
