Lillia placed the cup of hot tea on the table and turned to look at the bed. Shuu was already fast asleep; his breathing was calm, unlike earlier where his breathing was laboured. When Lillia took a closer look at him, it was as if he wasn’t sweating and shaking with fear before this. In fact, she still could not believe that Shuu had clung himself to her and acted like a frightened child. It was an uncommon sight, especially from the always lethargic vampire.
She was still staring at him when Shuu stirred in his sleep. Lillia took a step back, alarmed by Shuu’s sudden movement. She braced herself for Shuu to awake himself from his slumber, but he merely turned to his side and continued on sleeping.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Lillia stepped closer to him once again and raised her hand to his forehead to check his temperature. She stopped herself and thought to herself. Do vampires get sick?
Lillia scolded herself for not asking Reiji regarding this matter and decided to check Shuu’s temperature anyway. It’s not like it will hurt to just check his temperature, anyway.
Lillia placed her hand on Shuu’s forehead and felt that his forehead was not warm with fever, at all. In fact, his forehead was cold, just like the rest of his body. Lillia guessed that it’s just the nature of a vampire after all, considering even Laito and Ayato’s body felt cold during those moments where they caught her off-guard.
If he’s not sick, then what should I do? Lillia was about back away from Shuu when he stirred once again, only this time he was mumbling in his sleep. Lillia moved her gaze to Shuu’s face and was slightly alarmed by the fact that Shuu’s face screwed up as if he was in pain and his lips could not stop moving, mumbling words that Lillia could not understand. Worried, Lillia leaned a little closer to Shuu’s face so that she could make out the words that Shuu was frantically mumbling from his lips, but could not quite catch on to his words.
Giving up, Lillia turned away to grab a piece of cloth that she had prepared to wipe off the sweat on Shuu’s face when she heard Shuu mumbling a word that she could understand right away. In fact, he was actually mumbling out a name. “Edgar”
Lillia froze at how remorseful Shuu sounded when he uttered that name and cocked her head to one side, trying to recall if she had ever heard Shuu using such a tone of voice. No, he has never sounded so pained before, she thought as Shuu’s expression started to soften up, maybe the nightmare he had already ended.
As Lillia could recall, she did caught Shuu calling out that name once, and he sounded sad, too. This ‘Edgar’ that Shuu keeps mentioning in his sleep must be special to the man himself. Special? Lillia felt a weird sensation when she repeated that word in her mind and felt her cheeks warming.
Oh.
Lillia silently took a step back from Shuu’s bed and turned around. I think I should cool my head off outside.
Lillia pushed the door open as quietly as she could muster and quickly stepped out of Shuu’s bedroom. Once she did, she was greeted by the bright lights that lit up the hallway and squinted her eyes, unused to the sudden brightness. Lillia looked around; searching for a place that leads to the outside air. She noticed a door leading to a balcony and went over to it with haste.
Once she opened the balcony door, air went into the house with a whoosh, sending Lillia’s hair in disarray and cooling her body that was only clad with a long nightgown. As she shivered by the cool air, she looked down at her outfit and thought; I should buy new pajamas that do not consist of nightgowns.
Hugging her body, Lillia looked over the balcony, drinking in the night scene in front of her. Though there was nothing to look at, other than a bunch of trees in front of her. Lillia had chosen the wrong balcony; this one did not oversee the beautiful garden that was the only thing that Lillia admired about the mansion.
