A gut-wrenching scream shattered the tranquility of Hypaxia's sleep, yanking her from the clutches of dreams. Groggily, she mumbled a demand for silence, only to be violently jolted by two large hands, feeling like a tempest in the dark.
"Daphne, don't look down," Seonghwa's voice trembled as he whispered urgently. The chilly wind brushed against her skin, and beneath her, the ground swayed in a disorienting pendulum motion. Disregarding his warning, curiosity getting the better of her, Hypaxia reluctantly opened her eyes and peered downward. Nausea engulfed her as a horrified scream escaped her lips, her hands desperately reaching for Seonghwa, who hastily pulled her close, holding her in a firm embrace while patting her back in an attempt to comfort her.
Amidst the vertigo-inducing view, the remaining crewmates still slumbered peacefully, blissfully unaware. Panic set in as they scanned the area, but no sign of Hongjoong. The circular cage, their makeshift jail made of bones, hung over a giant ravine, dangled precariously nearly 3000 feet above the roaring waterfall, suspended by a fragile thread of vine that seemed barely able to withstand the weight of the vessel.
Hongjoong on the other hand didn't seem to be in a good state either. As he stirred from his slumber, his surroundings played host to a surreal spectacle. Unfamiliar faces surrounded him, their bodies swaying to the rhythmic beat of drums, an otherworldly dance unfurling around his prone form. Confusion etched his features as he glanced about, taking in the unfamiliar scene. To his side, a substantial flame roared, casting flickering shadows on the tribal scene.
Attempting to rise, Hongjoong found himself intercepted by two robust arms that guided him to a colossal throne. The island natives, amid fervent celebration, approached him, adorning his neck with a necklace strung with human toes - an eerie gesture of reverence. Observing the tattoo on their arms, recognition dawned - the Pelegostos tribe. A realization struck him with a chill: seated on this throne, reserved for their god, was he now deemed their deity? His jaw dropped as the haunting knowledge resurfaced - the Pelegostos' grim ritual, burning their gods to release them from their mortal form. A shiver ran down Hongjoong's spine as the weight of his predicament sank in.
"Shit," he muttered, a sense of impending doom casting a shadow over the once-celebratory atmosphere.
Hongjoong watched as the Pelegostos put some sticks into a pile to make their fire. Then he stood up and started waving his arms around.
"No, no! Oi! No! More wood! Big fire! I am Chief. Want big fire! Come on."
He then turned to the natives standing by his chair.
"Oi! A boogey snickle snickle. Tout suite. Come on. More wood." Hongjoong ordered. The two Pelegostos walked away from the throne and went to gather more wood. They threw a big log on the fire and turned to see that Hongjoong was gone.
The pirate ran across one of the bridges and ended up on another section of the mountain where a few huts were. However, there wasn't anywhere else for him to go, except back the way he came, or down the side of the mountain.
Hongjoong entered one of the huts and looked around spotting a rope he could use to climb down the mountain and possibly find a bridge where he could climb down.
He also took a bottle of paprika for god knows what reason, and ran outside only to be met face to face with the herd of the tribals
Hongjoong nervously sprinkled himself with the paprika powder
"More seasoning ay?"
The next thing he knew, Hongjoong was tied up to a bamboo pole, and being hung over a pile of wood like a rotisserie chicken
A Pelegosto came forward carrying a flaming torch and knelt by the pile of wood to light it when a kid came running towards the crowd and began yelling. Apparently, the rest of the crew were in the middle of escaping. Then they all looked to Hongjoong.
